The Model Webfolio

For aspiring models is there a better way to showcase your portfolio? We don’t think so.

Having a disc of images for your portfolio is great you can email the images to prospective customers and agencies. Having a printed portfolio is great, as you can bring this with you when you go to agency casting calls.

I have noticed a lot of models using facebook pages as a way of having an online presence to showcase their portfolio which is also great as it’s a free service. However the downside of using facebook for this is purpose is firstly reach. Unless you are happy to pay facebook to boost your posts, you will see very little organic views on your page. Another downside to using facebook as a medium for sharing your portfolio is that facebook’s compression engine for displaying images is quite poor so images that look great on your computer or when printed look nothing like they should once they have been uploaded to facebook. Also bear in mind other people’s perceptions every photographer and every agency knows that anyone can have a few photographs done, set up a facebook page and market themselves as a model.

There is no doubt that having your own website to display your portfolio is better and these are the reasons why:

It’s easier – If you have your own website, how much easier would it be to send people your images. No more emailing files, no more posting printed portfolio’s simply forward your unique website link and you are done.

It’s more professional – A webfolio can include all of your contact information, your stats, your previous experience and contact information. How much better is that, for the photographers, agencies etc. who may wish to book you for work
