Merchant Hotel Belfast Wedding | Sheena + Rajesh

Sheena and Rajesh got married on the 25th of October in a beautifully intimate ceremony held at the historic Belfast City Hall. Following the heartfelt exchange of vows, their wedding reception was celebrated at the luxurious Merchant Hotel, as wedding photographers in Belfast, this is always a venue we like visiting.

These guys live in England and are preparing for a massive three day traditional Indian wedding celebration scheduled for next year. However, since Rajesh originally hails from Dungannon, they wanted to hold a meaningful wedding celebration in Northern Ireland as well. While their wedding in England will be a huge event with all the trimmings, they wanted to keep their Belfast wedding simple and intimate with only their closest family with them to celebrate on the day.

We met up firstly with a nervous yet excited Rajesh at the iconic Belfast City Hall just before the stunning ceremony was set to begin, with Sheena arriving shortly after him. Both of them arrived a little later than expected, as they were caught in traffic due to Belfast being very busy. Despite the delay, they were both on time for the start of the ceremony.

Although both of them were feeling quite nervous before the ceremony began, once they finally saw each other, those nerves quickly faded away, and the ceremony itself turned out to be remarkably relaxed and enjoyable for everyone involved. With only a few close friends and family members present to witness Sheena and Rajesh share their heartfelt wedding vows, this helped create a wonderfully relaxed and intimate atmosphere that perfectly reflected their love for one another and the vibe they both wanted for their Belfast wedding.

Wedding Photos at Belfast Botanic gardens

After the ceremony, we made our way through the vibrant streets of Belfast heading towards the picturesque Botanic Gardens. We had suggested this lovely location to Sheena and Rajesh because it was conveniently close by, allowing us to capture some stunning moments without straying too far. Being wedding photographers in Belfast, this is somewhere we used lots of times before. Given that they had quite a tight timeline to adhere to, it was essential to ensure that we moved efficiently while still providing ample opportunity for beautiful photographs before they needed to head to their venue for the next part of their celebration.

Although we only had a limited amount of time with Sheena and Rajesh for their portrait session, the stunning Botanic Gardens in Belfast as usual proved to be an easy and enjoyable place to work. With its variety of different little areas, each offering unique backdrops and scenery, it creates an ideal setting that works very well for wedding photography. Sheena and Rajesh were both great fun, their infectious laughter and joyful spirits brought a wonderful energy to the time we had with them. We fell pretty luck with the weather as well with the rain that had been threatening all day not arriving until we reached the venue.

Wedding at the Merchant Hotel

On arrival at the exquisite Merchant Hotel, it was finally time to celebrate the joyous occasion with Sheena and Rajesh as they chose to cut their stunning wedding cake, marking the beginning of their beautiful union together. After a few celebratory drinks and a whole lot of precious quality time spent with their guests, Sheena and Rajesh made their way out of the lively gathering. Sheena decided it was the perfect moment to change into her second beautiful dress of the day, just in time for the upcoming speeches and dinner.

The Merchant is an iconic building having once been the head quarters of the Ulster Bank before being converted into a 5 star luxury hotel and It retains a lot of its original features from the original iconic building. While it was a very busy day at the hotel the staff did a great job of ensuring that Sheena and Rajesh’s wedding party was kept private from everything else that was going on in the hotel.
