Photographers who know Lagan Valley Island inside out

We are a husband and wife photography team and Lisburn is our home town, so Lagan Valley Island is a venue that is close to our hearts. The riverside setting, the beautifully maintained grounds and the relaxed atmosphere make it one of the most naturally photogenic wedding venues in Northern Ireland, and perfect for the calm, unhurried photography we love.

As a married couple ourselves, we know exactly what it feels like to be on your side of the camera. We know the nerves, the excitement and how quickly it all goes. That is why we work quietly, calmly and always a step ahead, so you can be present and enjoy every moment while we take care of capturing it.

We have been photographing weddings across Northern Ireland since 2014 and Lagan Valley Island never disappoints, whether it is golden light on the river or a quiet moment in the courtyard. Based just up the road? Have a look at our Lisburn wedding photographer page too.

Relaxed, natural photography, planned around the light.

As photographers who grew up in Lisburn we know this venue and its surroundings better than most. Here are the spots we love most and where we know your photos will look incredible.

Location 01

The River Lagan

The river running alongside the venue gives you something most wedding venues simply cannot offer. Calm water reflections, natural light and a genuinely beautiful backdrop that never looks forced or staged.

Location 02

Just minutes from Lagan Valley Island, Wallace Park is a beautiful green space with mature trees, open paths and a relaxed natural feel. It is a great spot for couples who want something a little more informal and outdoors in their portraits.

Location 03

Lisburn Castle Gardens

Just a short walk from the venue, the Castle Gardens offer lush greenery, beautiful planting and a more traditional garden setting. Perfect if you want a bit of variety in your photos.

For something a little more relaxed and characterful, Lisburn city centre is right on your doorstep. Great for couples who want a more natural, urban feel to some of their portraits.

What our couples say

Kind words from a Lagan Valley Island couple

What a couple who got married at Lagan Valley Island say about having Tommy and Laurene photograph their day.

Our wedding photographs were exactly how we wanted them, on the day Tommy and Laurene came to our house that morning to take photos of us getting ready and stayed right through to the first dance! They were genuinely lovely people and we felt very comfortable getting our photographs done.

We got a photograph right away that evening through Facebook which was great to see and shortly after we arrived back from honeymoon our photographs were ready for us on a USB. They had also made a blog of our wedding day which we just loved to be able to share with family and friends! Look no further if you need a wedding photographer these guys are the one!

Frequently asked questions

Your Lagan Valley Island questions answered

The things couples ask us most about photography at Lagan Valley Island. If yours is not here, send us a message, read our guide to the most popular wedding venues in Northern Ireland or have a look at our wedding FAQ.

How much does a Lagan Valley Island wedding photographer cost?

Every wedding photographer has their own pricing structure based on their experience, skill level and what is included in their packages. We believe you should feel confident you are getting real value, not just the cheapest option on the day that matters most. Get in touch with us directly and we will talk you through everything included, answer any questions you have and make sure we are the right fit for your day. Contact us for a personalised quote.

How long does a wedding ceremony at Lagan Valley Island take?

Ceremonies at Lagan Valley Island typically last 20 to 30 minutes. It is worth factoring in time for the marriage licence paperwork which is usually completed just before or after the ceremony and can add an extra 15 to 20 minutes to your schedule. We recommend booking at least 2 hours of coverage to include arrivals, the ceremony, portraits at the venue and time outside along the river. This gives you a relaxed timeline without feeling rushed.

Where are the best places for wedding photos at Lagan Valley Island?

Lisburn Castle Gardens is our favourite spot. The beautiful planting, lush greenery and traditional garden setting give you something really special. The grounds around the venue are beautiful too and we also love heading to Wallace Park and the River Lagan for variety. We will guide you through everything in a relaxed, natural way with no rigid posing required.

Can we extend our coverage to other locations near Lagan Valley Island?

Absolutely. Many couples like to add time to visit Wallace Park, Lisburn Castle Gardens or Lisburn City Centre for something a little more urban. If you would like more breathing room we also offer a dedicated 4 hour micro wedding package. Just mention this when you enquire and we will talk through the best option for you.

Do I need two photographers for a Lagan Valley Island wedding?

You do not have to, but we genuinely recommend it if your budget allows. As a husband and wife team, having us both means that while one of us is photographing you walking down the aisle, the other is capturing your partner's reaction, that moment when they see you for the first time. Those are the images couples treasure most, and they are only possible with two photographers.

What happens if it rains on our Lagan Valley Island wedding day?

Rain is part of life in Northern Ireland and we are completely prepared for it. Lagan Valley Island has covered areas and the venue itself offers sheltered spots that photograph beautifully whatever the weather. We always have a wet weather plan ready and honestly some of our most atmospheric shots have been taken on overcast days.

Do you need a permit to photograph at Lagan Valley Island?

No separate photography permit is needed for wedding couples being photographed by their booked professional photographer at Lagan Valley Island. For additional locations such as Wallace Park or Lisburn Castle Gardens it is worth checking in advance. We are always happy to advise on locations when you enquire with us.

How far in advance should I book my Lagan Valley Island wedding photographer?

We recommend booking as soon as you have your ceremony date confirmed. Popular dates especially Fridays and Saturdays can fill up 12 to 18 months in advance. That said we do occasionally have last minute availability so it is always worth checking. Get in touch and we will let you know straight away if we are free for you.
