Top 10 Wedding photographs that every bride and groom should have!

When you receive your hi-resolution wedding photographs and your storybook wedding album, they will provide you with memories of your special day for many years to come. We recently asked some of our brides and grooms to complete a survey so that we could find out what their top 10 must have wedding photographs where. So in no particular order here they are…

1. BRIDE AND GROOM PORTRAITS

This is our absolute favourite part of every wedding day. This is when we get the chance to go to the location our couple have chosen, spend time alone with our bride and groom and shoot the wedding photographs that will form the main part of their storybook wedding album. This is also one of the few times of the day that our bride and grooms get the opportunity to spend some time together away from the hustle and bustle of everything else that is going on around their wedding.

2.BRIDAL PREP / BRIDE GETTING READY

We love photographing the bride getting ready, It is one of the most emotional parts of the day. We always shoot bridal prep in a candid way, firstly so that we are not in the way of what is going on but also so our brides can relax and just do their thing while we work around them. We also use this time to shoot all of the detail shots, the dress, the shoes, the flowers and of course the wedding rings. While we don’t interfere we may give some direction like for example suggesting the best place in the room in terms of lighting to have your hairstylist and make-up artist work their magic.

3. WALKING DOWN THE AISLE

The bridal party entrance, one of the most important moments of the day. When the wedding march or alternative music starts to play you can really feel the change in the mood around the area used for the ceremony and it can make for beautiful and emotional photographs. Usually one of us photographs the bride while the other shoots the groom and guest reactions.

4. THE GROOM WAITING FOR HIS BRIDE

We have yet to photograph a wedding where the groom didn’t look nervous and emotional. They always deny being nervous afterword’s too.

5. FORMAL GROUP PHOTOS

These are important to every bride and groom and rightly so. At a recent wedding one of our grooms told us that the photograph we had taken of him and his grandmother was the only photograph he had of him and his grandmother together. These are also the photographs that in years to come when your own grandchildren are looking through your wedding album that they will want to see the most.

6. THE CUTTING OF THE CAKE

This photograph is a long standing wedding tradition and is also one of the times during your wedding day that all of your family and friends will want to grab a quick photograph on their mobile phone or their tablet. With that in mind we will usually try to photograph a mock cutting of the cake beforehand so that we can ensure that you get the best quality photograph without any distractions.

7. THE KIDS

Is there anything cuter at wedding than the kids? We don’t think so. We love spending time shooting both the children of our couples and their family and friends children. We always take a more relaxed approach when photographing children at weddings which we feel works well for us. We always aim to capture real smiles and genuine emotions.

8. CANDID PHOTOGRAPHS OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS

As well as your formal group photos we like to capture as much as possible during your wedding day as it happens and in a candid way. We do our best to fade into the background, so that we capture the real emotion of the wedding day. Throughout the day we will photograph your family and friends when they are not aware. These can often end up being some of the funniest or the most emotional photographs from the wedding.

9. RECEPTION ROOM DETAILS

At every wedding a huge amount of planning goes into arranging all of the elements that go into your day. All the effort and expense that goes into the set of the reception room deserves to be preserved which is why we will always spend some time shooting the room and capturing all of the little details that you spend time on choosing for your special day.

10. THE FIRST DANCE

Regardless of if you are the best dancer in the world or not, the first dance between the bride and groom is always romantic. Not every Northern Ireland wedding photographer offers coverage that includes staying to photograph the first dance. This is an important moment of the wedding day and we love being there to capture it for our brides and grooms.

Other popular choices from our brides and grooms included the kiss during the ceremony, the bride and groom coming back down the aisle and the bride and groom greeting their guests.
