The Mill at Ballydugan Wedding | Amy + Connor

Amy & Connor got married and had their wedding reception at the Mill at Ballydugan in Downpatrick on the 5th of September.

We can remember them confirming their booking with us very well as we were in Salou in Spain enjoying a family holiday when their confirmation email hit our inbox. We may have been in the local pub at the time so hopefully they excused any spelling mistakes on our email reply.

With the Coronavirus pandemic has been a concern for every couple getting married at the moment both Amy & Connor were determined that their wedding would proceed even if they needed to make any changes to their plans to make sure that they met all the obligations around the government’s restrictions. As it turned out, they were able to have pretty much a normal wedding day other than doing all of the things that have now become normal like ensuring hand sanitiser etc. was readily available. On the morning of the wedding we met up with Amy at her mum and dad’s home in Bangor to photograph all the ladies getting ready. We were only there for hair and make-up as due to the long drive to the venue it made more sense for Amy to finish off getting ready at the venue.

Connor arrived at the venue not long after we did in what Amy describes as his pride and joy, a classic B.M.W. While this car may be over 30 years old, it looks as good as the day it left the factory. Amy doesn’t get along Connor’s favourite toy. She told us that while Connor was able to drive the car over 500 miles back home from England after buying it with no issues at all, every time she has driven it, she has had issues with the car.

Amy ran a little late for the start of the ceremony and by the time she arrived Connor looked very nervous. As she walked down the aisle though, all nerves were forgotten and Connor had a smile like a Cheshire cat.

After the ceremony we made our way over to Inch Abbey for Amy & Connor’s bride and groom portrait session. We were expecting it to rain at some point during the day and unfortunately it arrived at just the wrong time so we only had about 15 minutes or so at Inch Abbey. While we would off course have liked more time we were able to create some beautiful images in the time we had.

Once back at the venue the rain cleared and we were able to get a chance to meet Amy & Connor’s baby, Charlie their pet poodle. Charlie is an incredibly cute pup and full of energy. We then grabbed some photos with the bridal party and Amy & Connor’s parents before heading back inside for the speeches.

Everybody did so well during the speeches, with some funny moments like when Connor’s brother and one of his best men on the day produced copies of Connor’s baby photos as a gift for Amy. Later in the evening we got a little more time with Amy & Connor at the lake beside the venue and there was some beautiful evening light. Once back at the venue again, Amy & Connor had their first dance as a married couple before everyone made their way outside to enjoy some amazing fireworks.
