Ballygally Castle Wedding | Kristine + Michael

On the 28th of July Kristine & Michael got married at Cairncastle Presbyterian Church in Larne with their wedding reception taking place at Ballygally Castle.

Kristine & Michael wanted to keep their wedding low key and opted not to have bridesmaids or even a best man. So, on the morning of the wedding instead of the usual hectic scenes while the bride gets ready, we met up with up with Kristine at Ballygally Castle with just her Mum and her 2 young daughters Alexis & Kelsie. We even had time to nip around the corner and grab a few photos of Michael getting ready as well. Well, we say around the corner which it was, although Google maps had a different idea and sent us on an epic journey instead. It was a much more relaxed morning because of this, although of course there was still lots of giggles.

Unfortunately, Kristine & Michael had some very bad news a couple of weeks before their wedding when Michael’s Mum became seriously ill and had to go into hospital, as she was still recovering it meant she wasn’t able to be there on the day. There was a very emotional moment during the ceremony when they realised that Michael’s Mum was well enough to be able to video call and be part of the ceremony that way. She spent the rest of the day with us as well, we even said a quick hello ourselves. The ceremony itself was very personal and exactly what the guys wanted, Michael’s dad is a minister at Cairncastle Church and performed the ceremony himself which added an extra personal touch.

Instead of the usual wedding transport Kristine & Michael left the church in a huge lorry which also featured on their wedding cake. Michael told us it is kitted out with a fridge, a microwave and bunk beds so basically the best limo around.

These guys fell so lucky with the weather on the day. For days beforehand and even on the morning of the wedding the weather forecast was giving for very heavy rain throughout the day and there were even some flood warnings issued. While the rain did hit hard during the morning and along with the heavy rain there was even a bit of thunder and lightning as Kristine made her way to the church by the time the ceremony was over and we had all made it back to Ballygally Castle the rain had started to clear. We had plenty of time to explore the beautiful grounds around the venue without having to worry to much about the weather.

After the speeches and dinner, we made our way down onto the beach for a few quick photos before the guys spent the rest of the evening entertained by some traditional music. As we were leaving Michael’s Dad even had even sat in for a few songs himself.
