Roe Park Resort Wedding | Catherine + Niall

Catherine & Niall got married on the 31st of July at Ballymena Baptist Church. After the wedding ceremony we stopped of at the Roe Valley Country Park, before heading of to Roe Park Resort in Limavady for their wedding reception.

We met up with Catherine and her bridesmaids on the morning of the wedding at her Mum & Dad’s home in Ballymena. On arriving Catherine told us that she had been up since 3 a.m not because of any wedding morning nerves but because she was just too excited to sleep. The girls were all really good fun to spend the morning with and they were all just as excited as Catherine for the day ahead. These girls are a tight knit group having been friends since primary school and it was easy to see the bond, they all share as they got ready for the wedding.

We met up with Niall at the church, just before the ceremony, he looked a little more nervous than Catherine had been, although was doing a great job of pretending not to be, but he kept himself busy greeting guests outside the church as they arrived. The ceremony itself was lovely and with the church being fairly large we have plenty of opportunity to move around for different points of view.

After the ceremony we left for Roe Valley Country Park which is only a stone’s throw away from Catherine & Niall’s wedding venue Roe Park Resort. The country park was quite busy on the day but as it’s a huge area it wasn’t difficult to find secluded places for Catherine & Niall’s bride and groom portraits. Although somebody refused to be ignored as you can see from the photographs. Possibly the world’s best wedding photo bomb ever!

Catherine had her timeline planned perfectly so when we arrived back at the Roe Park Resort, we had plenty of time to photograph the bridal party and to grab a few family photographs before it was time to head inside for the speeches. After the speeches, dinner and off course the cutting of the cake as the light was still good, we had the opportunity to spend a little more time with Catherine & Niall as we grabbed a few photos around the venue before they headed back inside to spend some quality time with their guests and to get ready for the first dance.

Here is a top tip for those of you who are planning on getting married at a venue that incorporates a golf course, which there is a lot of in Northern Ireland. In most cases a lot of areas at the venue will be off limits during the day because there will be people playing and off course for health and safety reasons you can’t have people taking photographs on the course or close by. A lot of couples don’t realise this when they book this type of venue. However, there is always a little downtime between the end of dinner and the beginning of the evenings entertainment so this is a great time to head outside for photographs in the areas you aren’t allowed to use in the earlier part of the day. At this time of year especially as the sun starts to come down, it’s also the best time of the day to take photographs as well so this is something we always offer as an option to our couples at every venue.
