Breckenhill Wedding | Jessica + Chris

Jessica & Chris got married on the 14th of August at Breckenhill in Ballyclare with both their ceremony and wedding reception taking place at the venue.

On the morning of the wedding, we met up with Jessica and her lovely bridesmaids as they got ready at Jessica’s Mum and Dad’s him in Ballyclare. When we first arrived, the girls were still at their local hairdressers so Jessica’s brother Sam did a great job helping us find all the little bits and bobs we needed to photograph before the girls arrived back. The morning went well, lots of laughs and a huge amount of excitement for Chris & Jessica’s big day. They were well organised so everything was quite relaxed, they even had time to enjoy brunch in the back garden before finishing off getting ready.

Once everyone was ready, we headed off to Breckenhill. We were very excited to be Breckenhill wedding photographers as this was our first visit to this venue and as we documented the day it became obvious why Jessica & Chris had chosen Breckenhill as their wedding venue. They both wanted a relaxed day that was personalised to them and the flexibility to D.I.Y as much as possible and that is exactly what this venue does so very well. Henrietta & David who own the venue are both very friendly and were on hand all day to ensure everything went as it should. Jessica & Chris along with their family & friends had been up to the venue the day before decorating the room for the reception exactly as they wanted it and it was perfect!

The ceremony took place outdoors in the beautiful gardens surrounding the main house at Breckenhill in front of a gorgeous floral arch. We may be a bit biased as we love outdoors wedding ceremonies having had one ourselves but the setting just couldn’t have been any better. It also fitted this couple so well as they met each other for the first time while working for an outdoor adventure company.

After the ceremony we got some time alone with Jessica & Chris to walk around the grounds around the venue for their bride & groom portraits. We made use of the almost Dark Hedges like avenue of trees that forms the entrance to the venue and the area close to the lake at the rear of Breckenhill. Back at the venue we grabbed the bridal party who were really good fun to photograph and took some family photos for Jessica & Chris. After that was all finished, the guys had some free time to chill out with their family and friends before it was time for the speeches and dinner. Dinner fitted the relaxed theme of the day so well as the guys chose to have a huge barbecue rather than standard wedding fayre.

After dinner Jessica threw her bouquet which was nice to see as it doesn’t happen very often any more and we set up a confetti run. The band arrived not long after and with Jessica & Chris being able to have their first dance outdoors in the court yard it made it really special. With the dancing being outdoors everyone else was able to join in as well which was so refreshing to see with restrictions on dancing still being in force at the time it had been a long time since we seen so many smiling happy faces on a dancefloor.
