Dunluce Castle Elopement | Taylor + Chad

Love has a way of taking us on unexpected adventures, and for Taylor and Chad, their love story unfolded in the most enchanting way possible. Seeking a unique and intimate experience to celebrate their commitment to each other, this brave couple chose to elope at the breath-taking Dunluce Castle on the 28th of May.

Our kids were very excited to find out that Taylor and Chad had chosen us to photograph their elopement once we mentioned to them that Chad is heavily involved with the Dude Perfect YouTube channel. With Chad being a content creator himself, choosing a photographer for their elopement was a big decision for them both. We are so glad that they chose us and that we got to spend the day with this lovely couple and their closest family and friends. We have mentioned on our blog many times before, about how much we love spending time on the Causeway Coast, so its always great to combine our love for the area with our work.

These guys travelled all the way from Texas, U.S.A to elope on our beautiful north coast. We met up with Taylor and her family at a local B&B on the north coast for getting ready. After sharing a first look with the girls and her Dad, Chad arrived so that they could share a first touch before the ceremony.

Dunluce Castle, perched dramatically on a cliff overlooking the North Atlantic Ocean, provided the perfect backdrop for Taylor and Chad's elopement. With its rugged beauty and rich history dating back to the 13th century, the castle exudes an otherworldly charm that captured the couple's imagination. The best place to capture that atmosphere when having an elopement here is a local farmers field which has a cliff edge that faces the castle. Once everyone was ready, we made our way over to Sean’s field. On arrival Sean was ready to transport everyone over to the field for the ceremony.

Against the backdrop of the roaring waves and the harsh summer sun, Taylor and Chad exchanged their heartfelt vows, surrounded only by their closest loved ones. Ceremonies here are always magical and with Taylor’s Dad performing the ceremony, it made it even more special.

After the ceremony Sean was on hand to transport the guys back to his cottage for a quick shot of whiskey before bringing everyone to Magheracross Viewpoint and treating everyone to an ice cream. It was maybe the Whiskey, but Sean also treated everyone in the queue to an ice cream as well.

By this point Taylor and Chad’s timeline was running very far behind and they were already an hour late for dinner in Belfast, so we made a mad dash for the secret beach at Ballintoy Harbour to grab some photos with the guys. Running so late did have one big advantage as it turned out.

The guys really wanted to visit The Dark Hedges and as it was on the way back anyway we were able to stop for a couple of minutes. It is a difficult place usually to use for photography due to the number of visitors it receives, especially at this time of the year. With running so late we lucked into a pretty much empty road which is extremely rare here, unless you are visiting very early morning. We are so glad that it worked out for the guys as it was somewhere they were very keen to visit.
