Mount Stewart Wedding | Sarah + Ross

Sarah and Ross got married on the 18th of June. The ceremony took place at Mount Stewart in Newtownards and their wedding reception took place at the Dufferin Coaching Inn & Hall in Killyleagh.

Sarah and Ross opted against some of the normal wedding traditions we often see. They both arrived at Mount Stewart within a few minutes of each other and when they did arrive, they just said a quick hello to each other and went about their own business. For Sarah that meant heading upstairs to put her dress on for the ceremony and for Ross that meant greeting guests as they arrived and chatting with his friends.

It has been a few years since Mount Stewart hosted a wedding. One of the last weddings that took place there was a wedding we photographed for one of Ross and Sarah’s friends. That is how they found us, after their friends had recommended us. Sarah works at Mount Stewart, so the choice of ceremony venue was an easy one to make.

The ceremony took place in the Great Hall which doesn’t happen often at Mount Stewart, we think Sarah must have been able to pull a few strings. The Hall looked beautiful and the flower arrangements on the day were stunning. Rather than the traditional readings or poems that are often heard at weddings, a couple of their friends said a few words about Sarah & Ross instead.

Wedding Photos at Mount Stewart

After the ceremony we headed off to shoot some portraits with Sarah & Ross. We had a lot less time than we would usually have as the wedding timeline was quite tight and the guys wanted to spend as much time with their guests as possible. Mount Stewart is a wonderful place for photography so it was still easy to get some beautiful photos even in the limited time we had.

Once we got back the guys made for the sunken garden where they had arranged a marquee to be set up to serve drinks to their guests. It was a lovely afternoon and the weather was perfect for a garden party.

Sarah and Ross had arranged for a helicopter to take them on to their wedding reception, which caused a lot of excitement as they left for the journey to the Dufferin Inn. This was a first for us as well. It is much more difficult to take photographs from a moving helicopter than you would think, but we were able to capture some of the amazing scenery we seen on the journey.

On arriving at the Dufferin Inn, dinner was served and the wedding cake was cut. Breaking away from the usual wedding traditions only Ross made a speech and it was after dinner not before. The band and D.J arrived and were set up in super quick time so everyone hit up the dance floor after Ross had finished his speech.
