Old Court Wedding Company: Nneka and Jonathan's Love Story

On the 17th of June we had the pleasure of photographing Nneka and Jonathan's summer wedding at The Old court Strangford Lough. These guys travelled over from England with their family and friends to get married here. The wedding ceremony took place in the 17th century old church that forms part of the venue and the rest of the day was spent at the venue as well.

As a wedding photographer Northern Ireland, we are always excited to capture special moments for couples on their big day, and Nneka and Jonathan's wedding at the Old Court was no exception.

When Nneka opted not to have getting ready photographs, we could understand her nerves before the ceremony. Instead, although this isn’t our first time working here, we arrived early to scope out the venue and get the lay of the land. The Old Court Wedding Company is a charming and rustic venue with a beautiful church for the ceremony, yurt inspired marquee and picturesque views of Strangford Lough. The natural beauty of the location always makes for stunning backgrounds in the photographs. The Old Court Wedding Company is one of our favourite venues.

On the lead up to the ceremony we used our time to photograph guests arriving and the beautiful flowers in the church. Jonathan arrived first with the biggest smile on his face. Nneka arrived nice and early, then hid away inside the venue until all of the guests were inside the church.

As the ceremony approached, there was a quiet excitement in the air. The chapel was lit only by soft candlelight, creating a romantic and intimate atmosphere. Nneka and Jonathan exchanged loving vows, surrounded by their loved ones, and we captured every beautiful moment. One of the most memorable moments for us was seeing Jonathan's face light up when he first laid eyes on Nneka walking down the aisle in her breathtaking dress. With only the candlelight to work with it was a very challenging environment for photography, but as professional wedding photographers, we are always prepared to adapt to unexpected situations and make the most out of every moment.

Wedding photos at the Old Court Strangford Lough

After the ceremony and instead of the traditional walk down the aisle Nneka and Jonathan stepped out of the church to be met with flower confetti thrown by their family and friends. The weather forecast had been threatening extreme bad weather for days on the lead up to this wedding including that morning, but while it was a bit overcast on the day, we didn’t encounter any of the bad weather the forecast had promised. After making their way through all the confetti, the guys made their way down to the shore of Strangford Lough to enjoy some beautiful food and off course a few drinks in the marquee.

Once Nneka and Jonathan had managed to snag some oysters and champagne and said hello to all of their guests we headed off for a walk around the beautiful grounds around the venue for some portraits with the guys. One of our favourite memories from the day was capturing the newlyweds' portraits by the shore of Strangford Lough. They were so comfortable and natural in front of the camera, and we could see the love between them shining through every shot. It was a beautiful moment, and we felt privileged to be able to capture it for them. We also spent a little time grabbing a few photos with the bridal party and Nneka and Jonathan’s family.

Back at the marquee the guys spent most of the rest of the afternoon chilling out with their family and friends There was such a relaxed vibe to the whole wedding day as the guys enjoyed the views of Stangford Lough from the shore, accompanied by some traditional music.

Back inside the venue it was time for the speeches and Nenka’s uncle also sang beautifully. After dinner we got to go for another walk around the venue with Neka and Jonathan before having to make our way indoors for the dancing.

Nneka and Jonathan's wedding day was a memorable one. As a wedding photographer Northern Ireland, we feel grateful for the opportunity to document such a beautiful day in such an idyllic location. The Old Court Wedding Company in Strangford provided the perfect backdrop for this charming and relaxed summer wedding, and we are proud to have been a part of it.
