Weddings at Old Court
Photographers who know the estate and its light
Old Court is a private estate on the shore of Strangford Lough, with a restored 17th century chapel, a yurt for the reception, gardens that run down to the water and its own private harbour. With only one wedding a day, the whole estate is yours, and that gives us room to work.
We have photographed many weddings here, so we know how the light falls in the chapel, where the gardens look best in the afternoon, and how to use the Boathouse and the shore without rushing you. We photograph the day as it happens, with relaxed portraits in between, and we plan the timings around the light so you get the best of the estate.
Still deciding on the venue itself? Our Old Court Strangford Lough wedding venue guide covers the good, the not so good and our favourite photo spots.

Photography at Old Court
Every corner of Old Court, captured
Old Court gives us a restored chapel, a yurt, gardens that run down to Strangford Lough and a private harbour, all with no other wedding on site. Here are the places we use on your wedding day and why each one matters. For the full picture of the venue, see our Old Court venue guide.
The Chapel
The restored 17th century chapel is a cosy and intimate place to marry, with stained glass windows and original features. It welcomes all mainstream religious ceremonies, and the warm light inside gives us images that feel timeless. We photograph your ceremony quietly from the sides and behind, so we capture the faces and the reactions without getting in the way.
The Gardens and Grounds
Wildflower borders, long sweeping lawns, old woodland and historic stonework surround the estate, and they run down to the shore of the lough. They are a natural and elegant backdrop for arrivals, drinks and portraits, and they look beautiful in every season. Which spots we use depends on your timings and the light, and we plan it with you.
The Yurt
The yurt was designed and handcrafted by the owner, and it is a warm and striking space for the meal, the speeches and the dancing. The timber lattice, the lanterns and the candlelight give us rich, atmospheric images that contrast beautifully with the bright outdoor portraits earlier in the day. A sheltered area with a stretch tent beside it gives your guests somewhere to chat in the evening.
The Boathouse and Harbour
The Boathouse sits beside the estate's own private harbour, and it is one of the most characterful spots at Old Court. The water, the stone and the quiet setting are perfect for relaxed, unhurried portraits. On a clear day the views over the lough are lovely, and on an overcast day the mood is just as good.
Real weddings at Old Court
See our work at Old Court
Every wedding at Old Court is different. Some couples marry in the chapel, others celebrate by the water, and the Northern Irish weather has a say in all of them. These are four days we photographed here, so you can see how we work.
Each one is a full day, from the getting ready and the ceremony to the portraits around the estate and the party in the evening, all edited in the same natural, true to life style. Click any photo to see the whole day.
Marry in the restored chapel on the estate, or outdoors by the lough. We plan your photography around the space you choose and the way you want the day to feel.
The chapel and the yurt mean the day carries on whatever the weather. We agree a wet weather plan with you beforehand, and some of our favourite images come from grey days.
Old Court hosts one wedding a day, so we can use the gardens, the chapel and the shore without working around anyone else. Our Old Court venue guide has the full details.
What our couples say
Kind words from our couples
What couples say about having Tommy and Laurene photograph their wedding day.
We had a wonderful experience with Pure Photo NI. We really loved the quality and variety of photographs that Tommy and Laurene were able to capture for us on our wedding day. Across the planning, photography and delivery of our photographs, Pure Photo NI were exceptionally professional, accommodating and a joy to work with.
Tommy and Laurene 2 absolute legends! From settling my nerves to climbing into random locations for the perfect shot to capture (that turned out beautifully) they made everyone feel comfortable and relaxed, particularly myself! We couldn't recommend these guys enough. Great craic with them both from start to finish!
Frequently asked questions
Your Old Court questions answered
The things couples ask us most about photography at Old Court. If yours is not here, send us a message or have a look at our wedding FAQ.
Have you photographed weddings at Old Court before?
Yes, many times. You can see some of them above, and our venue guide has more about how a wedding day works here, including a timeline. We know where the light falls across the estate in different seasons and at different points in the day, so we already know which spaces work best for portraits.
Do you know the best spots for photos at Old Court?
Yes. We plan around the restored chapel, the sweeping lawns and gardens, the yurt and the Boathouse with its private harbour. We know how the light moves across the estate throughout the day, so we get you to the right spot at the right time without you having to think about it. Our Old Court venue guide shows some of our favourite places.
What is the best time of year for a wedding at Old Court?
Old Court is a beautiful setting in every season. Summer brings long golden evenings and the grounds in full bloom with the lough behind you. Autumn wraps the estate in warm tones, spring feels fresh around the chapel and gardens, and winter has a quiet, atmospheric quality that suits the historic character of the estate. There is no bad time of year to get married here.
What happens if it rains on our wedding day at Old Court?
We have photographed weddings in every kind of Northern Irish weather. The chapel and the yurt keep the day going whatever the weather, and there is a sheltered area with a stretch tent beside the yurt. Soft overcast light is wonderful for portraits, and the stonework and gardens look stunning on moody grey days. We agree a wet weather plan with you beforehand. You can read more in our Old Court venue guide.
Can we stay at Old Court on our wedding night?
Yes. The Boathouse at Old Court sits beside the private harbour and is the on site accommodation for the bride and groom. Staying on site means the day ends gently rather than rushing off, and it gives us the chance to capture some beautiful late evening light around the estate.
Is there more than one wedding at Old Court on the same day?
No. Old Court is an exclusive use venue and hosts one wedding a day, so the whole estate is yours. It makes photography easier, because we can use any part of the gardens, the chapel and the shore without working around another wedding.
