Katie + Andrew's wedding at the Old Court
Katie and Andrew shared their vows and celebrated their marriage on the 18th of May at the beautiful Old Court in Strangford. It was a day filled with love, laughter, and heartfelt moments. Old Court is one of the best wedding venues in Northern Ireland and we always look forward to working there.
On the morning of the wedding, we met up with Katie and her bridesmaids at her and Andrew’s lovely home in Killinchy. It was probably just as well we arrived early as we spent the first 20 minutes or so playing fetch in the back garden with their absolutely gorgeous Labrador, Suzie. The girls were all great craic as was Katie’s mum — her enthusiasm and excitement added to the already buzzing atmosphere. Katie and Andrew’s beautiful little girl Ruby, who was the flower girl for the day, arrived later in the morning to join in the preparations as well. Dressed in her adorable dress, she brought an extra touch of sweetness to the getting ready excitement.

While the Old Court Strangford Lough charm and beauty are widely praised by all who have attended weddings there, it continues to maintain its status as a hidden gem, quietly nestled away on Strangford Lough, from the bustling crowds of more well known wedding venues. One of the many advantages of a wedding here, is that they also have on-site their own church which can be used for all mainstream religious ceremonies.
Upon arriving at the venue, we were delighted to meet Andrew and his two best men. However, our conversation was cut short as he quickly got called away to welcome his arriving guests. Katie arrived on time, though she realised on the way there, that her bouquet was still at home. Her quick thinking bridesmaids handed over their flowers and went flowerless for the rest of the day.
The ceremony itself was very traditional but was made extra special for these guys as the Minister was one of Andrew’s relatives. The church here is proper old school making it very atmospheric! The guys walked out of the church to be greeted with handfuls of confetti thrown by their family and friends.

With it being an afternoon ceremony we didn’t have a huge amount of time with Katie and Andrew after the ceremony, as we were keen to get them back to their guests so that they could enjoy the entertainment and lawns games etc, The time we did get was great, to be fair in such beautiful surroundings wedding photography is pretty easy.
Before heading inside for the speeches, Katie’s dad did his speech on the shores of Strangford Lough. It was absolutely hilarious and he included his grandkids in the hijinks as well. One of the best speeches we have heard in years. The rest of the speakers did well too, but nobody was topping Katie’s dad.
After dinner, we managed to persuade Katie and Andrew to spare us another quick 10 minutes for a leisurely walk to the boathouse and down to the shore. We are so glad they agreed, our luck seemed to be at its peak as we were greeted by the most stunning sunset on our way back.
After a bit of chill out time Katie and Andrew hit up the dancefloor for their first dance. It was the worlds fastest first dance, lasting all of about 30 seconds before everyone else jumped on the dance floor as well.
