Jenny + Gareth's wedding at the Old Court

Jenny and Gareth celebrated their marriage with a beautiful wedding ceremony followed by a joyous reception at the amazing Old Court Strangford Lough on the 22nd of June. The picturesque venue provided a magical backdrop for their special day, creating unforgettable memories for the newlyweds and their loved ones.

Jenny, her bridesmaid and her mum all got ready from The Boathouse or the “Old Court Hideaway as it’s also known. We have shot around The Boathouse before at other weddings we have photographed at the Old Court, but it was the first time we had been here for the bride getting ready. Gareth, his groomsmen and his family got ready from Quarry Hill Church which is only a few minutes away.

The morning, following its regular pace, quickly passed, and before we knew it, the time arrived to prepare for the wedding ceremony ahead. As is usual here, the marriage ceremony took place in the Old Court’s own on-site church. This charming chapel of ease, with its rich history dating back to 1629, exudes an unparalleled atmosphere that truly enhances the beauty of every wedding ceremony held within its walls. For Jenny and Gareth’s wedding, the church was bursting at the seams with excitement and joy as their beloved family and friends gathered in large numbers to witness and celebrate their beautiful marriage.

After the ceremony and after Jenny and Gareth had been congratulated by their guests with bear hugs and kisses in equal measure we got to meet their dog Coco. Jenny told us, and it was mentioned by a few other people throughout the day that Gareth was only marrying her so he could get joint custody of Coco. McBride & Groom looked after Coco throughout the day ensuring she was well exercised and kept entertained throughout.

For Jenny and Gareth, it was important for them for their portraits after the ceremony to be shot as quickly as possible, so they could spend quality time with their family and friends, which of course is fair enough. Old Court is one of our favourite venues for photography, for us it is one of the best wedding venues in Northern Ireland. This venue offers a plethora of unique beautiful locations for wedding photography making it easy to get some lovely photos of the guys within even a short time.

Portraits finished, the rest of the afternoon was spent chilling out on the shores of Strangford Lough with lawn games, drinks and craic aplenty. Later in the afternoon Jenny and Gareth broke from wedding tradition and cut their wedding cake before the speeches outdoors to big cheers from their guests.

After another bit of chill out time everyone made their way indoors for the speeches and dinner. All of the speeches went well, Jenny’s dad’s was particularly funny. After dinner as it was still a very warm day everyone made their way outside to enjoy the last of the sun while the band got set up for the first dance.

This was the first time we have had Funk N Disorderly at one of our weddings and they absolutely rocked the place, ensuring a full dancefloor of very happy people all night long!
