Stormont Hotel Wedding | Sophie + Sam

Sophie and Sam got married in Belfast on the 25th of November at the Stormont Hotel, with both their wedding ceremony and reception taking place at the hotel.

Sophie, her mum and her maid of honour Georgina stayed at the Stormont Hotel the night before and got ready from there on the morning of the wedding, making it a very easy day in terms of logistics without the need for all the travelling around that usually happens at weddings. The girls were all good fun to spend the morning with.

Sam and his brother Will who was best man on the day arrived in plenty of time before the ceremony. Sophie and Sam had their wedding timeline planned perfectly, everything on the day went ahead exactly when it was expected too, which is rare at any wedding never mind a wedding at this time of the year were usually timelines get stretched to the limit.

The ceremony was performed by Rev. Graham Fowles who did an amazing job of performing a traditional ceremony, while still making it a lot of fun and creating a very relaxed atmosphere for Sophie, Sam and their guests. As wedding photographers in Belfast we have visited Stormont many times before. Sophie and Sam opted for quite an intimate wedding with only their nearest and dearest with them during the day, although lots of their friends arrived later on for the evening party.

Wedding photos at Stormont Estate

After the ceremony and after grabbing a couple of quick photos with their grandparents we made our way over to Stormont Estate for Sophie and Sam’s portraits. It was a freezing cold day as you would expect at this time of the year and unfortunately the groundkeepers at Stormont had already cleared away the sea of Autumn leaves we had been hoping to use as a backdrop for some of their photos, but it wasn’t hard to find other areas to use. Sophie and Sam were great craic and were up for everything we asked from them. We were soon joined by the bridal party. We got some photos with them done in super quick time so that they could get back to the hotel and also so we could share another little bit of time with Sophie and Sam.

Once we got back to the hotel we were greeted with a beautiful rainbow and the guys had a lots of time to chill out and relax before the speeches and dinner. The speeches all went well, Sam’s dad completed his in record time. Sam is a full on Star Wars geek (so are we) and there was little nods to this throughout the day including their amazing wedding cake. After dinner we got out the lightsabers, before photographing their sparkler run. Once back inside it was time for the dancing and everyone had a great night.
