Larchfield Estate Barn Wedding | Alexandra + Ross

Alexandra and Ross got married on the 12th of November with both their wedding ceremony and reception taking place at Larchfield Estate in Lisburn.

On the morning of the wedding Alex and her bridesmaids got ready from her mum and dad’s home in Dundonald, with the girls having their hair and make-up done at Alex’s favourite local salon. On arriving at the house, we found Alex’s dad busy preparing his beautiful M3 to take Alex to the ceremony. Even in the pouring rain he was out cleaning the car and making sure that it looked it’s best for the day ahead. While Alex made her way to the ceremony in the M3, the rest of the girls were brought to the ceremony by our good friends at Angels Wedding cars.

Wedding Photography at Larchfield Estate

We have photographed a lot of weddings at Larchfield Estate over the last year or so which is great for us as it’s one of our favourite venues to work at and it is one of the best wedding venues in Northern Ireland. For all of our previous weddings at this venue, the ceremony took place outdoors. With it being a November wedding though Alex and Ross had always planned for the ceremony to take place inside the barn instead. On the day, the weather wasn’t great, it rained all morning and it was bitterly cold, we are sure Ross and Alex’s guest appreciated being indoors.

We met up with Ross and the boys for a few quick photos just before the ceremony. Everyone was excited and just like Alex had been all morning very calm and chilled out with no sign of any pre-wedding nerves. Although Ross did shed a couple of tears as Alex made her way up the aisle.

The ceremony itself was very traditional and took a bit longer than we had expected, so we were a little concerned about how that might impact the guy’s timeline. It can often be difficult for couples to leave their guests and get away with us to shoot their portraits after the ceremony, so we always expect to lose a little time there. Not on this day though, Alex and Ross were able to head away with us straight away.

We loved the little bit of time we had with them both after the ceremony. Both Alex and Ross were so friendly and good fun. Due to the rain earlier in the day some areas were almost swamp like but the guys took it all in their stride and we were still able to visit most of the areas we wanted to shoot their portraits in.

Once we got back to the main gardens, we had just about enough available light left to shoot some stuff with their bridal party and family before heading inside to get ready for the speeches and dinner. It gets dark very quick at this time of the year.

After dinner we headed back out with Alex and Ross to the Orangery before photographing a sparkler run in the main courtyard. We had only expected a few guests to come out for this but pretty much everyone did which was hilarious and made for a great experience for Alex and Ross.

Back inside it was time for the dancing. After the first dance, Alex hit up the dance floor with firstly her dad, then her mum and even her brother in the end as well. Everyone had a great night!
