Orange Tree House Wedding | Cathy & Stuart

Cathy & Stuart got married on the 20th of February with both their wedding ceremony and their wedding reception taking place at Orange Tree House in Greyabbey.

We met up with Cathy and her bridesmaids on the morning of the wedding at her favourite salon Gloss & Co, in our home town of Lisburn to photograph their hair and make-up applications. On arriving we noticed a guy trying to park in front of what turned out to be one of Cathy’s bridesmaid’s cars. After struggling for a while, like a scene straight out of Mr. Bean he used his car to push Cathy’s bridesmaid’s car straight out of the space to make room for him to park. You couldn’t make it up, but thankfully there was no damage caused. The rest of the morning flew by quickly and in no time at all we where on our way to Cathy’s Mum and Dad’s home to finish off getting ready.

Once everyone was ready, we left to meet up with Stuart and his groomsmen at Orange Tree House. This is a venue we really love, the room used for the ceremony always looks beautiful and it looked especially great on the day, as Cathy & Stuart had chosen our friend Bernie at Over the Moon Weddings to decorate it for them. Bernie and her team always do an amazing job and are well worth checking out if you are in the middle of planning your own wedding.

The ceremony was beautiful and all went as planned. Most weddings have some sort of hiccup that can cause issues with the timeline or cause a little bit of panic, but everything on the day went perfectly. This wedding was very much about family. Cathy & Stuart have known each other from they were toddlers and their two families have been friends for many years. The guys also made sure to spend as much time as possible with their own kids on the day, and even walked back down the aisle with them.

On checking the weather forecast on the morning of the wedding we knew it was probably going to be a difficult day in terms of the weather and that proved to be the case. While the rain stayed away for the most part it was very cold with gale force winds. After the ceremony Cathy & Stuart had chosen the ruins at Greyabbey as the location for their bride and groom portraits but with it being a wide-open place there was nowhere to hide from the high winds so we didn’t spend as long there as originally planned. Once back at Orange Tree House, Cathy & Stuart agreed to brave the cold again for a few portraits outside the venue. Rather than put their family and friends through the same conditions they decided to have the bridal party and family photos taken indoors.

After the speeches (Stuart’s best man looked like he was dreading his, but did very well) and dinner, the guys cut their cake and music for the evening was provided by the Liberals wedding band.
