Northern Ireland  ·  Husband & Wife Team  ·  Award Winning

Orange Tree House is one of the most beautiful and intimate wedding venues in Northern Ireland and one of our favourite places to spend a wedding day. Set on the shores of Strangford Lough in the pretty village of Greyabbey, we have worked here in every season and in every quality of light the lough and its surroundings have to offer.

We know the grounds that stretch down to the water's edge and how to use the shoreline, the mature trees and the natural landscape to their full potential. We know the main function room with its stone walls, vaulted ceiling and original exposed beams and how this extraordinary space, originally built as a church in the 1820s, works in photographs. We know how the light falls across the gardens in the evening and exactly where to position you as the sun drops over Strangford Lough.

The result is a wedding gallery that makes full use of everything Orange Tree House has to offer without you having to think about any of it.

Every Corner of Orange Tree House, Captured

Orange Tree House gives us a wonderful variety of settings across its historic grounds, gardens and stunning loughside location. Here are the locations we use on your wedding day and why each one matters.

Location 01

The Loughside and Beach

Nestled in Greyabbey Bay, the shoreline at Orange Tree House is one of the most spectacular natural backdrops at any wedding venue in Ireland. With the light and tide constantly changing, the water, the sands and the views across to the Mourne Mountains give us something different every single time. We know exactly when the evening light over the lough is at its most beautiful and we always make sure you are outside for it.

Location 02

The Main Function Room

Originally built in the 1820s as a church, the main function room at Orange Tree House is full of character and atmosphere. Stone walls, a vaulted ceiling and original exposed beams give every image a timeless and dramatic quality. Whether it is your ceremony, your dinner or a quiet moment between the two, this room is a genuinely beautiful space to photograph in.

Location 03

The Raised Terrace and Lounge Bar

The lounge bar and raised terrace offer panoramic views over Strangford Lough towards Whiterock and the Mourne Mountains and are a wonderful setting for your drinks reception photographs. The combination of the terrace, the light off the water and the natural social energy of a drinks reception gives us some of the most relaxed and genuine images of the whole day.

Location 04

Greyabbey Ruins

One of the things that makes Orange Tree House so special is its setting in the pretty village of Greyabbey. The historic abbey ruins and the wider landscape of the Ards Peninsula are right on the doorstep and give us a completely different mood to the venue itself. Very few wedding venues in Ireland have a location like this within a short walk of the front door.

From the loughside and beach to the main function room and the raised terrace, we know where the best light falls and how to make the most of everything this beautiful County Down venue has to offer on your day.

Orange Tree House is beautiful in every season. Summer brings long evenings with the light over Strangford Lough at its most spectacular. Autumn gives the surrounding landscape rich golden tones. Spring is fresh and full of colour in the gardens. Winter gives the venue an intimate and cosy quality that photographs wonderfully. There is no bad time of year to get married here.

Absolutely. The loughside, the beach, the raised terrace with its panoramic views and the Greyabbey ruins are all locations we plan around carefully. We know how the light moves across the venue and the surrounding area throughout the day and we always get you to the right spot at the right time without you having to think about any of it.

Orange Tree House is one of the most popular wedding venues in Northern Ireland and peak dates go quickly. We would strongly recommend getting in touch as soon as your date is confirmed. For summer Saturdays couples are often booking 12 to 18 months ahead. The sooner you reach out the better the chance we have of being available for your day.

We have photographed weddings in all kinds of Northern Irish weather and we are completely prepared for it. The main function room with its stone walls and vaulted ceiling is a stunning wet weather option and the covered areas of the venue work beautifully whatever the conditions. Soft overcast light is genuinely wonderful for portraits and some of our favourite images from loughside venues have been taken on grey days.

Yes. There are over 100 bed spaces within a five minute radius of Orange Tree House, many within easy walking distance in the heart of Greyabbey village. Options range from luxury self catering cottages to charming country house bed and breakfasts and local hotels, so there is something to suit every guest.

We love it when couples include their dog on their wedding day and Orange Tree House is a wonderful setting for it. The loughside grounds and the village surroundings in particular make for beautiful natural portraits with a four legged guest. Just let us know in advance so we can factor it into the plan for the day.
