What are the advantages of Orange Tree House for a wedding?
Being a dedicated exclusive wedding venue means that only one wedding a day takes place at Orange Tree House and you and your guests have the venue all to yourselves for your wedding day.
Both wedding ceremonies and wedding receptions can be held here. It is the same room that is used for both, which is part of the original church which once stood here.
Being originally a historic church the ceremony/reception room still has a lot of its original features which really add to how amazing this room is for a wedding.
The food here is always amazing!
While having the historic features the modern part of the building like the bar is filled with light and modern conveniences with awesome views across Strangford Lough.
In our experience photographing many weddings here the staff are experienced hosting weddings and always friendly. Special shout out to Michael who does an amazing job of looking after the couples and their guests.
The sunsets! They seem to have some magic sauce here, we have seen amazing sunsets pretty much every time we have visited, which can provide awesome photo opportunities, for couples who make themselves available at the right time.
What are the disadvantages of Orange Tree House for a wedding?
Accommodation can be a bit of an issue especially with larger weddings. Having no accommodation available on site you and your guests can choose from local hotels or there are loads of very pretty Airbnb’s very close by.
This is a very busy wedding venue with well over 100 weddings a year taking place here, so availability especially for key dates can be very limited. If you want to book here and have a special date in mind, you really must book early.
Due to issues with local residents they will insist on doing noise checks with your band or wedding D.J throughout the night, which often annoys the bands and D.J’s, especially those that have not worked at this venue before.
Photo opportunities around the venue are a little limited as there is only a small area that can be used outdoors. For shooting the couple this area is best left until sunset, although it can be used for group photos with your family and friends during the day. Indoors is very limited in terms of being able to shoot portraits.
As the same room is used for both the ceremony and reception the room has to be rearranged after the ceremony. To be fair the staff are very quick turning the room around, but it is usually a good idea to not have a late afternoon ceremony here.
Wedding photography at Orange Tree House
As mentioned above it is possible to shoot some stuff around the venue and we have done that ourselves many times. We often shoot both the family and bridal party at the venue and save any stuff we shoot with the couple until after dinner when the sun starts to drop. For the actual ceremony itself the room usually has good light and we have never really ran into any issues here.

The ruins stand as a testament to the rich history and timeless beauty of the region. Steeped in history and surrounded by lush greenery, this historic site has become an increasingly popular choice for couples seeking a unique and enchanting backdrop for their wedding photography.
Greyabbey, founded in 1193 by Affreca, wife of John de Courcy, is a Cistercian abbey that once thrived as a center of spiritual devotion. Despite the ravages of time and various historical events, the ruins continue to exude an undeniable charm, making it a captivating setting for couples who appreciate the allure of history and architecture.
The medieval architecture of Greyabbey provides a captivating canvas for wedding photographers. The weathered stone walls, graceful arches, and intricate details create a romantic atmosphere that transports couples and photographers alike to a bygone era.
