Orange Tree House Wedding | Claire + Chris

Claire and Chris tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony at Orange Tree House, located in the picturesque village of Greyabbey, on the 28th of November. Both their wedding ceremony and the reception celebration were held at the same enchanting venue.

These guys had originally planned on having a elopement style wedding on the stunning Causeway Coast. However, with winter fast approaching and growing concerns regarding the comfort and enjoyment of their beloved guests, they ultimately decided to change their plans and opt for a more intimate wedding celebration surrounded by their nearest and dearest. They then went searching for a more traditional wedding venue that would provide a cosy atmosphere for everyone. During their search, they fell in love with Orange Tree House on their very first visit to view the venue.

We met up with Claire and the rest of the ladies for getting ready at Chris and Claire’s home in Belfast on the morning of the wedding. It was a joyful atmosphere filled with laughter and excitement as everyone prepared for the special day ahead. It was also nice to catch up again with Sinead and Catherine, who were the talented make-up artists and hairstylists on the day of the wedding.

On arriving at the always amazing Orange Tree House, we met up with Chris, although we barely had time to grab a few photos and say a friendly hello before Claire, brimming with excitement to get married, unexpectedly arrived early at the venue.

Claire and Chris chose to embrace a humanist wedding ceremony, making their special day truly personal. Their celebrant for the big day was the talented Hope Kelly, who enthusiastically shared the heart-warming story of how they first met and detailed the beautiful journey they undertook leading up to their wedding day. In addition to her captivating storytelling, Hope also conducted a traditional handfasting ceremony, adding an beautiful touch to the celebration.

Claire and Chris thoughtfully chose the famous and atmospheric Cistercian ruins in Greyabbey for their portraits immediately after the ceremony. This picturesque site is conveniently located just down the road from Orange Tree House, making it a very popular choice of photo location for couples looking to capture beautiful memories on their special day.

It was a freezing cold day, yet we felt incredibly fortunate to find the place mostly to ourselves. This allowed us to freely explore and easily access all the beautiful areas we love to use for wedding photography here. Claire and Chris kept the cold winter air at bay by sharing lots of warm hugs and affectionate kisses. They were also great craic to photograph, which made the experience enjoyable and filled with laughter.

On arriving back at Orange Tree House, we had another couple of precious minutes to capture some moments with Claire and Chris before the weather began to change unexpectedly. With the clouds rolling in, we decided it was best to jump straight into taking photographs of them with their lovely guests, ensuring we documented their special people as well. We just about managed to capture everything the guys wanted before the heavy rain started to pour down, and unfortunately, it didn’t stop for the rest of the day. This however meant that the guys got to share lots of quality time with their guests while sharing some signature cocktails before the speeches.

This beautiful wedding was our last wedding of the year 2024, and what an incredible day it was to conclude our wedding season. We love it when couples exhibit the courage and confidence to design their wedding day exactly as they envision it, and Claire and Chris exemplified this spirit perfectly. They made the wonderful choice to have a more intimate wedding celebration, surrounded by the loved ones who mean the most to them, creating a warm and personal atmosphere that truly reflected their unique bond with each other.
