Orange Tree House Wedding | Rebecca + Jason

Rebecca and Jason got married on the 17th of August at the beautiful Orange Tree House in Greyabbey, were they celebrated their special day with both their wedding ceremony and reception seamlessly taking place at the same stunning venue.

We met up with Rebecca and her lovely bridesmaids at Jason’s mum and dad’s welcoming home, which is conveniently only 10 minutes down the road from the beautiful Orange Tree House, on the morning of the wedding to document the exciting getting ready preparations. Rebecca and the girls were so well organised that they were ready to go way too early, that doesn’t happen very often.

After leaving Rebecca and her bridesmaids we met up with Jason and his best man and groomsman at Orange Tree House. There was some international flavour with the boys, with the best man coming from the Netherlands and some of the Groomsmen all the way from the U.S.A. After a couple of quick photos with the boys we waited for Rebecca’s arrival and of course she was exactly on time.

We have shot a ton of weddings at Orange Tree House but we have never failed to be impressed by the beautiful ceremony room here. As we have mentioned on our blog before the ceremony room was originally a church so it has a different vibe than most other venue ceremony rooms.

Rebecca and Jason opted for a humanist wedding ceremony with celebrant Emma Crawford doing a great job especially when you consider she has only officiated at a few weddings up until now. Emma kept the ceremony joyful and upbeat, exactly what Rebecca and Jason had wanted and also included a traditional handfasting ceremony.

After the ceremony and after we had got a quick photo with Pearl Rebecca and Jason’s playful Bassett Hound Pearl, we made our way over to the Greyabbey ruins. This always a popular location for wedding photography for couples getting married at Orange Tree House.

On other visits here we have pretty much had the place to ourselves but there was quite a few tourists around. Rebecca and Jason got treated while we were there to the bells being rung in their honour, which was arranged by Jason’s mum. With the weather looking like it might turn for the worse, we didn’t stay too long so that we could get back to the venue and shoot some stuff with the bridal party. That proved to be a good choice as we had just enough time to get back and shoot some stuff with the bridesmaids and groomsmen before the rain hit hard.

Back inside it was time for the speeches! Rebecca’s matron of honour downed a quick shot before reading an emotional poem she had written herself and Jason’s best man did a great job of doing his speech in English. After dinner, while the band was setting up we grabbed Rebecca and Jason for a few minutes for a quick walk around the venue. For once we didn’t have the big sunset we have come to expect after our previous visits here but it was good to get a little bit of extra time with the guys before they headed inside for the first dance.
