Blossoms of Love: Jennifer and Jeffrey's Enchanting Orange Tree House Wedding

Jennifer and Jeffrey got married on the 22nd of May with both their wedding ceremony and reception taking place at Orange Tree House in Greyabbey.

We know it wasn’t an easy task for this lovely Canadian couple to organise a wedding in Northern Ireland, especially during recent times with so many issues around travel. Luckily Jennifer has some family that live in Northern Ireland that were able to help them put the perfect day together. Jennifer and Jeffrey didn’t even have the opportunity to visit Orange Tree House before they arrived at the venue on the day of the wedding to get married.

We met up with Jennifer and Jeffrey at the Culloden Estate & Spa in Holywood, for getting ready on the morning of the wedding. Nobody seemed to have any pre wedding nerves, so it was a pretty chilled out morning. Once Jennifer and Jeffrey were ready, we met up with them in the grounds around Culloden Estate and Spa to photograph their first look. We freely admit to loving first look, so much emotion and these two looked so happy. It is great that more and more couples even in Northern Ireland are now including this as part of their weddings.

The Culloden as everyone knows is a beautiful hotel and the grounds were perfect for Jennifer and Jeffrey’s first look. We also managed to grab a quick photo on the beautiful staircase inside the hotel as well.

Orange Tree House Wedding Photos

Jeffrey was due to leave for Orange Tree House first on a bus with his family and friends, so we waited outside for him for a good long while, but didn’t see him. The bus then drove away and we assumed that we had some how managed to miss him. It was only after arriving at Orange Tree House that we found out that the bus had actually left without Jeffrey by mistake and had to return to get him. Am sure that will be a funny story they will be telling every time someone mentions the wedding for a long time.

Jennifer arrived in a beautiful white limousine but she did arrive quite late. While there hadn’t been any noticeable wedding nerves during the morning, Jeffrey looked more nervous by the minute while he waited for Jennifer to arrive.

We love photographing wedding ceremonies at Orange Tree House, the room always look spectacular and it has amazing natural light streaming through the windows making it perfect for photography. The ceremony was performed by a friend of Jennifer’s mum’s making it even more personal and special for them.

After the ceremony we made our way over to the ruins at Greyabbey for Jennifer and Jeffrey’s bride and groom portraits. We didn’t have much time as the guys were keen to get back to their guests but Greyabbey always makes for unique photograph’s and there is nothing like it in Canada, so it had a real wow factor for Jennifer and Jeffrey.

Wedding Photography at Orange Tree House

We got back to the car just before a rain shower but it didn’t last long, so once back at the venue, we were able to get a few photos with the bridal party and Jennifer and Jeffrey’s family. While the rain had stopped, it had gotten quite cold and windy. We laughed when Jennifer’s sister said that it was colder than her wedding day and she got married on a snow topped mountain in Canada,

We photograph a lot of weddings for couples who are travelling into Northern Ireland to get married and it’s always interesting to see the differences between how we normally do things here and their wedding traditions. For Jennifer and Jeffrey, it was having a first look and longer speeches than we would have here, both of which we have seen before at weddings we have photographed for couples from the U.S.A. One thing that we hadn’t seen ourselves before though was that the guys did their first dance before the speeches, we have only seen that in movies before. Just on the speeches, we thought it was hilarious when Jeffrey mentioned during his speech about how on a previous visit to Northern Ireland, he had been introduced to Buckfast Tonic Wine. Jeffrey’s mum also awarded a trophy to Jennifer. After dinner the guys were entertained by some traditional Irish dancers.

Having photographed a few weddings at Orange Tree House, we know that when the sun starts to drop later in the evening you can get some amazing light at the beach behind the venue. So, we grabbed Jennifer & Jeffrey for a quick 10 minute session before the dancing started, to make use of the last of the sun.
