Advantages
- Only one wedding takes place each day, so the hotel's full attention is on your day. That means more privacy and a team that can focus on every detail.
- The whole day can happen in one place. All three suites can be used for a civil ceremony, and the hotel is licensed for civil ceremonies, humanist weddings, blessings and vow renewals, so there is no travelling between venues.
- There is a suite for every size of wedding. The Mardyke Suite takes up to 110 guests, the Clanrye up to 190 and the Millers ballroom up to 450, so it works for an intimate day or a very big one.
- You can stay on site. There are 110 bedrooms with discounted rates for your guests, and the packages include a luxury honeymoon suite, two guest suites and a first anniversary B&B stay.
- The in house wedding team offers bespoke packages and planning support, with a five course banquet and a pre wedding tasting, and the hotel has its own spa and leisure club.
- The sweeping mahogany staircase makes a grand entrance and a great spot for photographs, and ceremonies come with views of the Mourne Mountains.
Disadvantages
- There are few places on site that work well for portraits, so we usually travel for them. Many couples go to the grounds of the Carrickdale Hotel, a sister hotel near Dundalk, so you need to allow time for the journey.
- Parking in the city centre can be a challenge, so ask the hotel how it will work for your guests before the day.
- It is a city centre hotel, so it feels more formal and urban than a country estate, and there are no private grounds on the doorstep.
- Guests travelling from further away will need to plan their journey and where to park, so it is worth sharing the details early.
