About the venue
A manor house on Lough Erne
Manor House Country Hotel stands on the shore of Lower Lough Erne at Killadeas, a short drive from Enniskillen. The Irvine family owned the estate for generations and rebuilt the house in 1860, bringing craftsmen from Italy to create the interiors. It became a hotel in 1957 and is now licensed for civil, humanist and religious ceremonies. It was named Best Wedding Hotel in Ulster at the 2026 WeddingDates Awards.
We have photographed weddings at the Manor House, so this guide is about what we have seen on real days. It covers the good, the not so good and where to go for photos. If you are still choosing a photographer, our wedding photographer in Enniskillen and Fermanagh page shows how we work and what is included.

The advantages and disadvantages of Manor House Country Hotel
Every venue has good points and things to plan around. This is what we have noticed from photographing weddings at the hotel.
Advantages
- The lough is right there. The hotel has its own small marina and landscaped grounds, and the lakeside gives us a different backdrop from almost any other venue in Northern Ireland. At one wedding we took the couple's portraits at the marina, with no travel needed.
- Only one wedding takes place each day, and you have the hotel to yourselves. That means privacy, a team that can focus on every detail, and no other wedding party for us to work around.
- The whole day can stay in one place. The hotel is licensed for civil, humanist and religious ceremonies, and it offers intimate lakeside ceremonies as well as ceremonies in the manor house.
- A humanist ceremony gives you freedom over timing. One of our couples chose one so they could pick their own ceremony time rather than work around registry office slots, and they included a handfasting.
- You can stay on site. The hotel has 80 bedrooms, many with views over the lough, and we have stayed the night before a wedding ourselves, which meant the bridesmaids getting ready photographs were just one floor down.
- The Lady of the Lake, the hotel's own cruiser, can host an intimate ceremony and dinner for 30 guests or a second day celebration out on the water.
Disadvantages
- The hotel is outside Enniskillen, so guests who are not staying the night need transport. It is worth planning lifts or taxis early, especially for the evening.
- Summer sun can be harsh. At a July wedding the sun was high and strong all afternoon, and the front of the hotel was not usable until after dinner, when we had about ten minutes of better light there.
- Good shade matters in summer, and so does the timeline. We found a shaded spot close to the hotel for the bridal party and family photographs, so we plan around the sun rather than fighting it.
- If you marry in a church elsewhere, the reception venue is a journey away. One couple married in Dungannon and travelled to Killadeas afterwards, so the travel time has to be built into the day.
- Capacities and room details are not the same everywhere you look online, so ask the hotel for the current capacity of each space before you book.

Places to explore
Most of the best spots are within a few minutes of the hotel. These are the places we use most, and we are always happy to talk them through with you before the day.
Which one we choose depends on the sun, the weather and the time of day.
The marina
The hotel's small marina on Lough Erne is where we have taken couple portraits, with water, boats and open sky around you and no need to travel.
The lakeshore and grounds
The landscaped grounds run down to the lough, which gives us plenty of room for relaxed portraits. In summer we look for the softer light early or late in the day.
A shaded spot by the hotel
When the sun is high, we use the shade close to the hotel for the bridal party and family photographs, so nobody is squinting and nobody has to walk far.
The front of the hotel
The manor house frontage is lovely, but it can be harsh in the middle of a summer day. We often save it for a short session once the sun has dropped, after dinner.

Planning your day
A Manor House wedding day timeline
Every wedding is different, but this is how a summer day at the Manor House with a 1pm ceremony might run. It uses the shade when the sun is high and saves the open spots for softer light.
Daylight is shorter in autumn and winter, so for those dates we move the portraits earlier and the front of the hotel session sooner. If your ceremony is in a church elsewhere, add the journey to Killadeas to the plan. Talk the timings through with us before the day.

Questions
Manor House Country Hotel wedding FAQ
The questions couples ask us most about getting married at the hotel. If yours is not covered, send us a message.
Where is Manor House Country Hotel?
The hotel is at Killadeas, Enniskillen, BT94 1NY, on the shore of Lower Lough Erne in the Fermanagh Lakelands. It is a short drive from Enniskillen.
What ceremonies can we have at the hotel?
The hotel is licensed for civil, humanist and religious ceremonies, so the whole day can happen in one place. It also offers intimate lakeside ceremonies on Lough Erne. Ask the hotel which options are available for your date.
Can we choose our own ceremony time?
A humanist ceremony let one of our couples choose their own time, rather than work around registry office slots. Ask the hotel and your celebrant what is possible for your date.
Is there more than one wedding a day?
No. The hotel has a one wedding a day policy and you have exclusive use. That makes things easier for us as photographers too, because we do not have to work around another wedding party.
How many guests can the hotel host?
The hotel says the Grand Ballroom takes up to 300 guests, and the Lady of the Lake cruiser suits an intimate ceremony and dinner for 30. Other figures online differ, so ask the hotel for the current capacity of the space you want.
What is the Lady of the Lake?
It is the hotel's own cruiser on Lough Erne, offered for small celebrations and second day cruises. If you are planning to use it, tell us early so we can plan around the boat and the light.
Where are the best spots for photos?
Most are close to the hotel. We use the marina and the lakeshore for couple portraits, a shaded spot near the hotel for the bridal party and family, and the front of the hotel once the sun has dropped.
What about the summer sun?
It can be strong. At a July wedding the sun was high and harsh all afternoon, so we used shade for the family photographs and waited until after dinner for the front of the hotel. We plan the order of photographs around the sun.
Our ceremony is in a church elsewhere, can we still have the reception here?
Yes. One of our couples married in a church in Dungannon and celebrated at the hotel. We took portraits at Parkanaur Forest Park in Dungannon first, and then did the bridal party photographs at the hotel on arrival. Build the journey into your timeline.
Can we stay at the hotel?
Yes. The hotel has 80 bedrooms, many with views over Lough Erne. We have stayed the night before a wedding ourselves, which meant the bridesmaids getting ready photographs were one floor down.
Can we visit before we book?
The best way is to contact the hotel directly. You can call +44 28 6862 2200, and the hotel's weddings page has an enquiry form.
How much does a Manor House wedding photographer cost?
You can see our packages and prices on our pricing page. We keep the details there so they stay up to date. For more on how we work, see our wedding photographer in Enniskillen and Fermanagh page.
