The Clandeboye Lodge in Bangor has a real warmth to it, the kind of place that feels like a country retreat rather than a hotel. Chelsey and William chose it for their wedding on the 15th of June and it suited them perfectly, relaxed, comfortable, and full of character.

Chelsey and William both stayed at the hotel the night before, which meant no early morning drive and no rush. Everyone was just a short walk from where they needed to be. There's something about a couple staying under the same roof the night before that takes a bit of pressure off the morning. The atmosphere was calm, with plenty of time for hair, makeup and a few nerves mixed with excitement.

We split our time between Chelsey and William, capturing all the small moments that build up to the ceremony. Buttons being fastened, last minute touches to the dress, the groomsmen having a laugh to settle the nerves. These quiet moments before everything kicks off are some of our favourites to photograph.

William and Chelsey said their vows inside The Blackwood Suite, with a humanist celebrant leading the ceremony. There's something lovely about an indoor ceremony at Clandeboye Lodge, it has an intimate feel without losing any of the elegance. Their excited guests gathered to watch the couple exchange vows, and the room was filled with emotion from start to finish.

After the ceremony and an indoor confetti run (they don’t allow confetti outside here) we headed outside to make the most of the grounds at Clandeboye Lodge. The grounds around the hotel have been vastly improved in recent times with lovely mature trees and open green space that gives a real sense of space and privacy, away from the rest of the wedding party for a little while, whilst still staying close to your guests. We wandered through different corners of the grounds, making use of the natural light and the greenery as a backdrop, moving from sunny open areas to quieter spots tucked under the trees.

William would straight up tell you that he hates being photographed but they were brilliant in front of the camera, easy and natural together, which made for some really beautiful portraits. There was a lot of laughing between shots, a few stolen glances, and that comfortable kind of chemistry that makes a couple genuinely enjoyable to photograph. Time was tight, so we moved quickly between spots to make sure we got the most out of the grounds without eating into the rest of the day. Once we had the couple portraits done, we brought the wedding party out to join in for some group photos before heading back inside so that everyone could share some time together before the speeches and dinner.

After dinner we grabbed another ten minutes with Chelsey and William, slipping outside while the light was changing for a few final shots before heading back in to join a small but energetic dance floor that kept going well into the night.

Chelsey and William's day at Clandeboye Lodge was everything a wedding should be, relaxed, personal and full of genuine joy. From the calm of getting ready together under one roof to the warmth of the ceremony in The Blackwood Suite and the quiet beauty of the grounds, it all came together into a day they will look back on for years to come.
