Photographers who know Clandeboye Lodge inside out

Clandeboye Lodge is one of the most distinctive wedding venues in Northern Ireland and one we have enjoyed photographing many times. An eclectically stylish hotel near Bangor, it has a character and warmth that sets it apart from more traditional venues. The eclectic art collection, the beautifully considered suites and the landscaped gardens all give us something genuinely different to work with on every wedding day.

We know how the Blackwood Suite photographs during a ceremony with its arched timber beams and gothic windows. We know the light the Clandeboye Suite gives us as it opens onto the gardens and how the Viceroy roof terrace comes into its own on a bright day. We know the quiet spots in the grounds that give us relaxed, natural portraits away from the main reception areas.

The result is a wedding gallery that makes full use of everything Clandeboye Lodge has to offer, without you having to think about any of it. Still deciding on the venue itself? Our Clandeboye Lodge wedding venue guide covers the advantages, the disadvantages and our favourite photo spots. We also photograph weddings across the town and the surrounding area, so have a look at our Bangor wedding photographer page.

Relaxed, natural photography, planned around the light.

Photography at Clandeboye Lodge

Every corner of Clandeboye, captured

Clandeboye Lodge gives us a wonderful range of characterful spaces and beautiful outdoor areas within a single stylish venue. Here are the locations we use on your wedding day and why each one matters.

Location 01

The Blackwood Suite

The Blackwood Suite is one of the most distinctive ceremony spaces in Northern Ireland. Arched timber beams, gothic windows and an enchanting atmosphere make it one of the most rewarding rooms we photograph. The natural light that comes through those windows is beautiful at any time of year and the character of the space gives ceremony images a warmth and depth that is hard to replicate anywhere else.

Location 02

The Clandeboye Suite and Gardens

The main Clandeboye Suite opens directly onto the landscaped gardens and that connection between inside and outside is something we plan around on every wedding day. The neutral tones and eclectic art collection inside give us a refined backdrop, while the gardens outside provide a natural and relaxed setting for portraits. We know exactly when the light is at its best here and we use it every time.

Location 03

The Viceroy Roof Terrace

The private roof terrace attached to the Viceroy Suite is one of the most unique features at Clandeboye Lodge. It gives us an elevated outdoor space that photographs beautifully, particularly in the warmer months and on bright days. The views and the sense of space it provides make it a spot we always look forward to using and it gives every gallery something a little unexpected and memorable.

Location 04

The Sheridan Courtyard

The Sheridan Courtyard Suite with its direct courtyard access is a great space for relaxed drinks reception coverage. The contemporary styling of the suite and the outdoor courtyard area give us something fresh and modern to work with. It is a natural gathering spot during the reception which means we capture plenty of easy, candid moments here without anyone feeling posed or directed.

Real weddings at Clandeboye Lodge

See our work at Clandeboye

Every wedding day at Clandeboye Lodge has its own personality and feel. Some couples marry in the Blackwood Suite, others make the most of the gardens and the roof terrace, and the Northern Irish weather has a say in all of them. These are six days we photographed here, so you can see how we work.

Each one is a full day, with the getting ready, the ceremony, the portraits around the venue and the party in the evening, all edited in the same natural, true to life style. Click any photo to see the whole day.

Every season

Gardens in full bloom in spring and summer, warm tones in autumn and intimate, elegant interiors in winter. We have photographed weddings at Clandeboye across every month of the year.

Everything in one place

The ceremony, the meal, the party and the bedrooms are all under one roof, so the day flows easily and we can plan your photography around the light from the first moment to the last.

Every kind of weather

Clandeboye handles poor weather very well. The Blackwood Suite, the hotel interiors and the Sheridan Courtyard give us plenty of options, and some of our favourite images were taken on grey days.

What our couples say

Kind words from Clandeboye Lodge couples

What couples who got married at Clandeboye Lodge say about having Tommy and Laurene photograph their day.

We've been reflecting over our wedding day and I'm not sure where to begin! We are so lucky that I stumbled across a Northern Ireland wedding Facebook page and found you both. I then read over your website and blog and everything was just answered before I even formed any questions. We knew that after picking our venue that choosing our photographer was our next highest priority. How fortunate we were to find a husband and wife duo who are so down to earth and fun to work with.

Mr and Mrs WilliamsClandeboye Lodge, Bangor

We can't thank you enough for doing such a fantastic job of capturing our day. We had such a laugh with you both and we really felt relaxed the whole time.

Mr and Mrs JohnstonClandeboye Lodge, Bangor

We booked Pure Photo N.I for our wedding in December. Tommy and Laurene were absolutely fantastic from start to finish. They gave us great advice from the get go and were willing to help with anything. Their experience and expertise shine through as they know exactly how to guide you on the day and get the best out of your venue and ideas. We are absolutely delighted with our photos and as their incredible portfolio already shows they are very talented photographers that add a very personal touch to all they do. Thank you so much for capturing our special day in beautiful photos.

The things couples ask us most about photography at Clandeboye Lodge. If yours is not here, send us a message or have a look at our wedding FAQ.

Have you photographed weddings at Clandeboye Lodge before?

Yes, we have photographed many weddings at Clandeboye Lodge and know the venue very well. From the Blackwood Suite and its beautiful arched ceremony space to the Clandeboye Suite gardens, the Viceroy roof terrace and the Sheridan Courtyard, we know where the best light falls and how to make the most of every space the venue has to offer. Our Clandeboye Lodge venue guide has more about how a wedding day works here.

What makes Clandeboye Lodge good for wedding photography?

Clandeboye Lodge has a real character and individuality that sets it apart from more traditional hotel venues. The eclectic art collection, the distinctive suites, the landscaped gardens and the unique features like the Viceroy roof terrace all give us something genuinely interesting to work with. It is a venue that rewards photographers who take the time to explore it properly.

What is the best time of year for a Clandeboye Lodge wedding?

Clandeboye Lodge photographs beautifully in every season. The gardens are at their finest in summer and spring, the grounds take on warm tones in autumn and the stylish interiors come into their own in winter when everything feels intimate and elegant. We have loved photographing weddings here across every month of the year.

How far in advance should we book for our Clandeboye Lodge wedding?

Clandeboye Lodge is one of the most popular wedding venues in County Down and our availability at peak dates goes quickly. We would encourage you to get in touch as soon as your date is confirmed. For summer Saturdays couples are often booking 12 to 18 months ahead so the sooner you reach out the better the chance we have of securing your date.

What if the weather is bad on our wedding day at Clandeboye Lodge?

Clandeboye Lodge handles poor weather very well. The Blackwood Suite, the main hotel interiors, the Sheridan Courtyard and the covered areas all give us excellent options whatever the conditions outside. Soft overcast light is genuinely flattering for portraits and some of our favourite images from Clandeboye have been taken on grey days. Northern Irish weather has never stopped us getting great photographs.

Can we stay at Clandeboye Lodge on the night of our wedding?

Yes and we would encourage it. Clandeboye Lodge is a hotel with on site accommodation so you and your guests can stay over and make a full occasion of the day. It means everything happens in one place from start to finish and removes all the stress of travelling at the end of a long and wonderful day.

How do we check if you are available for our Clandeboye Lodge wedding?

The quickest way is to visit our contact page and send us your date. We will get back to you promptly to confirm availability and answer any questions you have about how we work and what to expect from us on your wedding day at Clandeboye Lodge. We also photograph weddings across the area, so see our Bangor wedding photographer page.
