Clandeboye Lodge Wedding | Sarah-Jane + Andrew

On the 10th of December Sarah-Jane and Andrew got chose to have a Bangor wedding so they got married and had their wedding reception at the Clandeboye Lodge Hotel in Bangor.

Sarah-Jane and Andrew first met way back when they were at primary school, but didn’t get together until much later on after they randomly bumped into each other at their local gym.

On the morning of the wedding, we met up with Sarah-Jane and her bridesmaids at her mum and dad’s home in Newtownards. It was a pretty chill morning with a few giggles along the way. Everyone was excited for the day ahead.

On arriving at the Clandeboye Lodge we met up with Andrew and his groomsmen for a couple of quick photos before the ceremony. The venue as you would expect for this time of the year had very much a Christmas vibe going on, with Christmas trees and decorations all over the place. Sarah-Jane and Andrew included their family and friends on the day with Andrew’s brother stepping in as videographer for their wedding and one of their friends singing and playing the guitar during the ceremony. These guys opted for a Humanist wedding ceremony that was tailored and personalised to them and was performed by Michael Conlon.

As part of their ceremony Sarah-Jane and Andrew shared a traditional Scottish quaich ritual. At a wedding, “the quaich ritual” is when the bride and groom drink to each other from the same cup. While Whisky is traditionally used the guys opted for Prosecco instead. The guys also opted to cut their wedding cake straight after the ceremony.

After the cake was cut, we headed of with Sarah-Jane and Andrew to Crawfordsburn Country Park. This was an important choice of location for these guys as this is where Andrew proposed to Sarah-Jane. It was an extremely cold day and while we expected some rain, we managed to avoid it for the most part. Poor Sarah-Jane was absolutely freezing so we tried to wrap up everything as quickly as possible.

Crawfordsburn is somewhere we have used a lot for weddings and other things over the years and it’s always been a popular place for photography. In recent times though, use of the park for photography has been restricted and you now need to apply for a permit if you want to use it as a location for your wedding photos. If you are planning your own wedding and want to use the park for photography you can get a permit from the N.I.E.A.

Once back at the venue we shot some stuff with the bridal party and grabbed a few family photos for the guys before heading back inside for the speeches and dinner. Sarah-Jane and Andrew had arranged a surprise visit from the signing waiters to entertain their guests during their meal. This created a really fun atmosphere and all of their guests all seemed to love it.  After dinner we set up a sparkler run for the guys before heading back inside for the dancing. After the first dance the guys had a traditional Ceili, before partying the rest of the night away.
