Clandeboye Lodge Wedding | Niamh + Karl
Niamh and Karl were married on the 23rd of July with at the Clandeboye Lodge Hotel in Bangor with both their wedding ceremony and reception taking place at the venue.
Niamh and the girls stayed at the hotel the night before the wedding, so we met up them there on the morning of the big day to photograph them all getting ready. Karl and the boys arrived a little later on the day but were there well before the ceremony was due to start.

Niamh & Karl’s Minister on the day was a very funny guy and kept Karl, calm and relaxed on the lead up to Niamh walking down the aisle. He cracked a few funny jokes during the ceremony as well.
When we first spoke with Niamh and Karl about their wedding the original plan had been to go to Crawfordsburn Country Park after the ceremony for their bride and groom portraits. However, there is now quite a lengthy and complicated process to go through with the N.I.E.A to be able to use the park for photography on your wedding day. So, on the lead up to their wedding we suggested to Naimh and Karl that a better option might be to use the walled gardens at Bangor Castle instead.
The walled gardens are somewhere we know very well, and especially at this time of the year when everything is out in full bloom, it can be a beautiful place for photography. Unfortunately, on the day just after the ceremony it started to rain quite heavily so we waited out the worst of it at the venue before heading off. Thankfully by the time we arrived the rain had eased of enough that we could get rid of the umbrellas and make the most of time we had there.
The walled gardens are only open from the end of March to the end of October so if you are planning on using it for a location for your own wedding photographs, be sure to check opening times.

On arriving back at the venue, the weather had improved and we were able to get photos of Niamh and Karl with both their bridal party and their family without needing to worry about it.
Niamh and Karl had wanted a large group photo which was supposed to happen after the ceremony but with the bad weather earlier in the day it wasn’t possible. So, after dinner we got everyone together and did it then instead.
We had hoped to get some more time with Niamh and Karl after dinner as well but they decided that they wanted to use that time to chill out with their guests instead before hitting up the dance floor for the first dance.
