Crowne Plaza Belfast Wedding | Clare + Scott

Clare & Scott got married on the 11th of May at the Crowne Plaza Belfast, with both their wedding ceremony and reception taking place in the Laganview Suite at the hotel.

We met up with Clare and her bridesmaids at her Mum and Dad’s home in Belfast on the morning of the wedding for getting ready. It was a very relaxed morning with none of the usual last-minute rush as everyone was ready for the day ahead in plenty of time. Once everyone was ready, we made our way over to the Crowne Plaza to meet up with Scott and his groomsmen.

The last time we photographed a wedding at this hotel, it was called the Ramada Plaza Belfast and the hotel has had a major refit since the rebrand. It was interesting to see all the changes that have been made. We arrived just in time to grab a few quick photographs of Scott and his groomsmen before the bridesmaids arrived. Clare and her Dad arrived not long after and it was time for the ceremony, which was quite traditional. We noticed Clare’s granda shedding a few tears as she walked down the aisle.

When Clare & Scott booked us to photograph their wedding, we had suggested Sir. Thomas and Lady Dixon Park in Belfast as a location for photographs after the ceremony. It’s a very popular location for wedding photography and often used by couples who get married at the Crowne Plaza. However, when we contacted Clare & Scott to make their final arrangements before their wedding, they had decided that they preferred not to have to travel anywhere for photographs. The Crowne Plaza itself doesn’t have any grounds to use for wedding photography so we suggested using Shaw’s Bridge Park which is just across the road from the hotel. We had used the park as a location for another wedding a couple of years ago but as we hadn’t visited in a while, a few days before the wedding we took a quick run down to have a look around.

Shaws Bridge Park hadn’t changed much from our last visit and still looked like a good option but on the way back we noticed another area on the opposite side of the road which looked potentially better, but we weren’t sure if it was somewhere that could easily be accessed. As it turned out Clare & Scott’s wedding car driver on the day knew the area well. So, after the ceremony we made our way to the Lock Keepers Cottage at Shaws Bridge for Clare & Scott’s bride and groom portraits. Once back at the hotel we shot some stuff with the bridal party and Clare & Scott’s family.

After the speeches and dinner, it was time for the first dance. Clare also shared a dance with her Dad before everyone else hit up the dance floor to wedding band, The Regulars.
