What Is the Fast Edit Add On and Is It Worth It?
If you're wondering how long wedding photography actually takes to be delivered, or whether there's a way to speed that up, this one is for you. Alongside our usual wedding photography packages we offer a fast edit add on for an extra £400, and it's something we get asked about a lot. So we thought it was worth explaining properly. What it actually covers, why it costs what it does, and honestly, who it is and is not worth it for.
Our standard turnaround is 4 to 6 weeks. That can stretch a little longer during peak season between May and September when we are shooting more weddings back to back, and it can be quicker outside of that. This is fairly typical across the wedding photography industry in the UK, most photographers work to a similar window once you factor in editing time and how many weddings they are working through at once.
What the fast edit add on actually is
The fast edit add on guarantees your full gallery within 10 days of your wedding, no matter what time of year you get married. To be clear, this is not a smaller or lighter edit. You get the exact same gallery, every meaningful moment from your day, edited to the same standard we always work to. The only thing that changes is where your wedding sits in our editing queue. A fast edit booking gets moved to the front of the line so we can turn it around properly within that 10 day window, rather than working through galleries in the order weddings happened.
Who actually needs this?
Most couples do not need it, and that is completely fine. The 4 to 6 week wait is standard and most people are happy to wait, especially once they know it is coming.
Where we do see couples choose the fast edit option, it usually comes down to one of a few things. Some are heading straight off on honeymoon and want a small preview or their full gallery ready before or during their trip. Some want images quickly to share for a big family celebration shortly after the wedding, like a parent's milestone birthday or an anniversary party. Others are simply the type of couple who knows they will be checking their inbox every day for six weeks otherwise, and would rather just pay for peace of mind than sit with that anticipation.
If none of that sounds like you, the standard timeline is genuinely fine. We do not want anyone paying £400 out of worry that they will be forgotten about or pushed down the list. Every gallery gets delivered within our stated window regardless.
Is it worth the £400?
That really depends on how much the waiting itself bothers you, more than anything else. If a faster gallery would ease genuine stress in the weeks after your wedding, it is a fair trade. If you are the sort of couple who will happily forget about the wait and be pleasantly surprised when the email lands, save the £400 for something else, your honeymoon spending money will get more use out of it than a couple of extra weeks off the delivery date.
One thing worth knowing, the fast edit add on needs to be added at the time you book, it isn't something we can add on later once your wedding photography package is confirmed. This is because we plan our editing schedule around each wedding as bookings come in, so we know in advance which weddings need to be prioritised. So if there's any chance the timing might matter to you, it's worth deciding before you book rather than after.
