Larchfield Estate Wedding | Sophie + Matt

On the 29th of March, we had the incredible opportunity to capture the beautiful wedding of Sophie and Matt at the stunning Larchfield Estate in Lisburn. As wedding photographers in Northern Ireland, we always feel privileged to be a part of such special moments in people's lives.

The day started early for us as usual when we arrived at the local Airbnb where the girls were getting ready. The excitement and energy in the room were palpable as Sophie and her bridesmaids prepared for the big day ahead. There wasn’t the usual copious amounts of Prosecco consumed because Sophie and Matt will have another huge milestone to celebrate soon, they are 6 months pregnant with their first baby.

On arriving at Larchfield Estate. we met up with Matt and the rest of the boys for some quick photos before the ceremony, then left the guys to it as they greeted the rest of the guest arriving. Sophie ended up arriving a little late to the ceremony due to a puncture on the way down the road, but she was only a few minutes late. These guys opted for a humanist wedding ceremony which was provided by local celebrant, Liz Peel.

Liz did an awesome job explaining how Sophie and Matt first met at a friend’s wedding and how that first meeting ended up coming full circle to their own wedding. There was lots of laughs during the ceremony as well, for example when Matt had to step in to lower the microphone stand, to suit Sophie’s mum. It was a beautiful ceremony that matched Sophie and Matt’s personalities so well. At the end of the ceremony the guys enjoyed a sing song with their family and friends before walking back down the aisle.

After the ceremony we headed straight out for walk around the beautiful grounds around the venue, with Sophie and Matt. The weather forecast had said that there was going to be heavy showers throughout the day but other than a brief drop of rain we had bright sunshine all day.

Sophie and Matt were both really good fun to spend some time with and although we didn’t have a huge amount of time with them for portraits it was easy to capture their love for each other. Sophie and Matt wanted to spend the most amount of time possible partying with their family and friends, so we kept their bride and groom portraits to the minimum and flew through photos with the bridal party and their families.

The rest of the afternoon we spent grabbing candid’s in the courtyard of everyone having a good time and enjoying the unexpected but very welcome great weather, until it was time to move back inside for the speeches.

Sophie and Matt arrived into their wedding reception with huge cheers from their family and friends, they walked all around the room before being seated and the speeches starting. All of the speeches went well and had everyone including us, laughing out loud!

After the speeches it was time for us to leave, so we packed up our gear and after bear hugs from Sophie and Matt we headed for home. Have no doubt that this crowd enjoyed partying the rest of the night away celebrating Sophie and Matt’s big day!
