The Wool Tower | Micro Wedding | Becky + Chris

Becky and Chris got married on the 1st of April at The Wool Tower in Broughshane, like with so many couples who decided to get married during one of the government lockdowns this was not the date they should have been married on, they had originally planned to have their wedding in August 2020.

These guys were determined that this time regardless of any government restrictions that the wedding was going to go ahead, they even had a back up plan in place in case they were not able to use their original venue. We know Becky and Chris had their hearts set on having the ceremony at The Wool Tower as they love the rustic feel of the venue and thankfully the venue was able to facilitate them.

On the morning of the wedding, we met up with Chris and his groomsmen at the venue, he was as calm and relaxed as any groom we have seen. Becky and her bridesmaids arrived a short time later in a cool little V.W camper van driven by her Dad.

The ceremony room was beautiful, we believe that Chris was heavily involved in how the room was decorated and he did an amazing job. We were very excited to photograph another Ballymena wedding. While of course the amount of guests was restricted because of government guidelines the most important people in Chris and Becky’s lives were with them to share the moment including their beautiful pup Darcey who joined us after the ceremony and was a big hit especially with the flower girls.

After the ceremony we were able to make use of the grounds around The Wool Tower for photographs. We like The Wool Tower it has some interesting areas to use and on the day the guys were lucky enough to have almost summer like weather.

As no wedding receptions are allowed under current government restrictions Becky and Chris arranged for a coffee van to serve refreshments to their guests and later, once we were all finished up at the venue, we all headed of to a secluded spot in Cushendall were the guys enjoyed a socially distanced picnic in lieu of a wedding reception and it was the best idea ever!

We have said it a lot after each micro wedding we have photographed during the various lockdowns and restrictions, but we can see real advantages of a more intimate wedding day and we wonder if in the future more couples will decide that this option suits them best even after we return to more normal times. At every one we have photographed, everyone has commented on how much more relaxed the day has been and while yes of course it can mean that not everyone who the couple wanted there on the day can be there, it does mean they get to spend more quality time with those that are.
