Weddings at The Wool Tower

Photographers who know the mill and how the light behaves

The Wool Tower is a restored woollen mill of about 200 years old at Raceview Mill in Broughshane, Co. Antrim, on the bank of the River Braid. It has exposed brick and stone, vaulted ceilings and pitch pine beams, and it takes one wedding a day, so the whole venue is yours.

We have photographed weddings here in every season, so we know how a day flows between the ceremony room, the Wool Hall, the courtyard and the riverside grounds. The bare brick can give the ceremony lighting an orange glow, which is something we plan for, and we shape your timings around the light and the weather.

The mill is a short drive from Ballymena, so have a look at our wedding photographer in Ballymena page too. Not sure The Wool Tower is the one yet? Our Wool Tower venue guide covers the advantages and disadvantages, or see our luxury wedding photographer page to see how we work.

One wedding a day, so the whole mill is yours.

Photography at The Wool Tower

Every corner of the mill, captured

The Wool Tower gives us a lot of variety in one place, from vaulted rooms to firepits and a riverbank. Here are the locations we use on your wedding day and why each one matters. For the full picture, read our Wool Tower venue guide.

Location 01

The Ceremony Room

Vaulted ceilings, exposed brick and stone, and south facing light through the Georgian windows make this a striking room for a ceremony. The lighting can give an orange glow against the brick, so we plan our settings around it and photograph quietly from the sides.

Location 02

The Wool Hall

Pitch pine beams, exposed brick and a quarry stone floor give us texture and character for the reception, with a backlit stone wall behind the dancefloor for the evening party.

Location 03

The Courtyard

The courtyard has firepits and blanket boxes for the evening, and the Juliet balcony from the Wool Hall looks out over it. It is a lovely place for relaxed, candid photographs of your guests.

Location 04

The Riverside Grounds

The venue sits on the bank of the River Braid, with private countryside around it and no public access. There is plenty of room for quiet, natural portraits away from your guests, without leaving the venue.

Real weddings at The Wool Tower

See our work at The Wool Tower

We have photographed weddings at The Wool Tower in winter and autumn, as full days and as micro weddings, and every one is edited in the same natural, true to life style.

Each includes the getting ready, the ceremony, portraits around the mill and the river, and the party in the evening. Click a photo to see the whole day.

Plan for the light

The brick walls can give the ceremony lighting an orange glow. We plan for it with our settings and our positions, and it is worth asking the venue about if colour matters to you.

One wedding at a time

With one wedding a day we never work around another party, so we can use the courtyard, the riverbank and the Wool Hall wherever the light is best.

Autumn and winter

Daylight is shorter from autumn into winter, so we plan your couple portraits earlier in the day. Claire and Chris's winter wedding shows how well the mill works in colder months.

What our couples say

Kind words from our couples

What couples say about having Tommy and Laurene photograph their wedding day.

I 100% recommend Pure Photo N.I. The photos were amazing. They were amazing to work with, they were friendly, great at communicating throughout the whole process, and the only regret I had at the wedding was that I didn’t get them to stay the whole night! You definitely can’t go wrong with Pure Photo N.I.

Mr. & Mrs. Duddy

Tommy and Laurene 2 absolute legends! From settling my nerves to climbing into random locations for the perfect shot to capture (that turned out beautifully) they made everyone feel comfortable and relaxed, particularly myself! We couldn’t recommend these guys enough. Great craic with them both from start to finish!

Mr. & Mrs. Boyd

Absolutely over the moon with our wedding photos! Tommy and Laurene did an outstanding job at capturing our perfect day. They were a breath of fresh air from start to finish. Extremely professional and we owe them a massive thank you for putting in so much time and effort to capture our day exactly how we remember it.

Frequently asked questions

Your Wool Tower wedding photography questions answered

The things couples ask us most about photography at The Wool Tower. If yours is not here, send us a message or have a look at our wedding FAQ.

Do you photograph weddings at The Wool Tower?

Yes. We have photographed weddings at The Wool Tower, including Sophie and Bella, Claire and Chris, Becky and Chris and Lynnette and Michael, so we know the rooms, the courtyard and the riverside grounds well. Both of us come to every wedding, so you get two photographers for your whole day.

Where is The Wool Tower?

The Wool Tower is at Raceview Mill, 9 Mill Road, Broughshane, BT42 4JJ, in Co. Antrim, on the bank of the River Braid and close to Ballymena. If you are choosing a photographer for the area, see our wedding photographer in Ballymena page.

How many guests can The Wool Tower host?

The ceremony room can host up to 200 guests and the Wool Hall can seat up to 200 for dining. Numbers can change, so check the current figures with the venue when you enquire.

Is the lighting a problem for photographs?

The ceremony lighting can give a distinct orange glow, which the bare brick walls magnify. It is something we plan for with our settings and positions, and it is worth asking the venue about if colour matters to you.

Where are the best places for photos?

The courtyard, the riverside grounds by the River Braid and the Wool Hall all work beautifully, with brick, stone and wood for texture. With one wedding a day we can use whichever part of the venue suits the light, and we plan the order of locations around your timings. Our Wool Tower venue guide has more on each spot.

What if it rains, or we are marrying in winter?

We always agree a wet weather plan with you beforehand. The vaulted ceremony room, the Wool Hall and the courtyard give us places to work if the weather turns, and for autumn and winter dates we plan your portraits earlier because daylight is shorter.

How much does a Wool Tower wedding photographer cost?

Our collections start at £1,375 for half day coverage and go up to £2,675 for a full day with albums and an engagement session. Both of us photograph every wedding, and there is no extra travel charge for weddings within Northern Ireland. You can see exactly what is included on our pricing page.

Do you have a venue guide for The Wool Tower?

Yes. Our Wool Tower venue guide covers the advantages and disadvantages, the facts couples ask about most and a sample timeline for the day.

When will we get our photographs?

Your private online gallery is delivered within six weeks of your wedding, with high resolution downloads and a print shop. If you cannot wait, our fast edit add on guarantees your photos within 10 days for an extra £400.
