Things You Might Regret Not Doing on Your Wedding Day

As a married couple ourselves and as wedding photographers in Northern Ireland we know that your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life, it is right up there along with having kids together and the other big moments in life. It's a day that you'll never forget, and you'll want to make sure that it's as special as possible. However, with so much going on, it's easy to miss out on some of the most important moments. In this blog post, we' will take a look at some of the things you might regret not doing on your wedding day and how to avoid those regrets.

First look

A first look is a private moment between the couple before the ceremony. It's a chance to see each other for the first time and have a moment alone before the chaos of the day begins. Many couples regret not having a first look because they didn't have a chance to connect with their partner before the ceremony. Check out our guide to the benefits of first look on a wedding day.

Saying "I love you" to your partner

It might seem like a small thing, but saying "I love you" to your partner on your wedding day is important. It's a reminder of why you're getting married and the love that you share. Some couples forget to say these three little words in the midst of the ceremony and celebration.

Taking a moment to breathe

Your wedding day is a whirlwind of activity, but it's important to take a few moments to breathe and take it all in. Not eating your wedding cake

When we got married and cut our wedding cake, it was quickly whisked away by the staff at the venue to be cut up and served to our guests. This seems to be the case at most weddings, where the couple rarely gets the chance to actually enjoy the cake they carefully selected. Despite spending what felt like endless hours choosing the perfect cake, we never really got to sample it ourselves on our special day. When we chat about our own wedding, not getting to try some of the cake is something that often comes up.

Even if your photographer has left by the time the sun sets, it’s a great opportunity to grab a few minutes of alone time and enjoy the view.

How to Avoid Wedding Regrets

Plan ahead

Create a timeline and stick to it. Make sure you plan for all the important moments and build in some buffer time for unexpected events.

Trust and rely on your vendors

Your photographers can help take some of the stress off of you and ensure that everything runs smoothly. There is probably no one else involved with your wedding that can assist with things like your timeline than better than your wedding photographer. Experienced wedding photographers now how long every part of the day will take, don’t be afraid to ask for help.

Remember what's important

Don't get caught up in the small details and remember the reason why you're getting married. Focus on spending time with your loved ones and creating lasting memories.

Delegate tasks

Don't try to do everything yourself. Delegate tasks to trusted friends or family members so you can focus on enjoying your day. It is your bridal parties job to help you with all things wedding related, they want to help and be involved, so let them.

Stay present in the moment

It's easy to get caught up in the stress and excitement of the day, but try to stay present in the moment. Take deep breaths and appreciate the love surrounding you.
