Belfast Castle Wedding | Maria + Sean
Maria & Sean were married on the 7th of May at St. Marys Star of the sea in Newtownabbey. Their wedding reception was held at Belfast Castle.
Maria & Sean are one of the many couples in recent times that due to no fault of their own had to postpone their wedding more than a few times, so it was great to finally get married and have an amazing day with their family and friends and as wedding photographers in Belfast we were excited to be there for it.
Maria got ready on the morning of the wedding from her Mum & Dad’s as so many brides do. One of Maria’s bridesmaids was also her hair stylist and she kept a close eye to the rest of the girl’s hair all day including stepping out on to the dance floor during the first dance to fix Maria’s head piece.

When the florist arrived at Maria’s mum and dads with her flowers, she said that Sean and the rest of the boys were very nervous, but they seemed in great form and not nervous at all by the time they arrived at St. Mary’s.
Maria & Sean have been together since they were 15, and they looked so happy as they stepped out of the chapel after finally getting married to be greeted with confetti by their family and friends.
On arriving at Belfast Castle, we quickly headed out into the grounds as it was looking like we might run into some bad weather. As it turned though other than a slight bit of drizzle the bad weather never arrived. The guys had arranged for their guests to have drinks and refreshments outside in the grounds at Belfast Castle, along with a caricaturist to help keep them entertained while we were away for their portraits.

Once all the photos were finished the guys had some quality time with their family and friends before being called inside for the speeches. There was a funny moment just before Sean’s speech when it turned out that at some point during the day his glasses had been broken, a few of the guests offered him theirs but he powered on through in the end without them.
After dinner entertainment was provided by The Liberals, we have run into these guys a lot over the years and they are a fantastic wedding band. Maria & Sean stepped on to the dance floor for a very energetic first dance before being joined by their bridal party half way through the song. This was followed up by a dance for Maria and her dad, before everyone else hit up the dance floor.
