La Mon Hotel Wedding | Kirsty + Michael
Kirsty and Michael got married on the 14th of May at La Mon Hotel & Country Club in Castlereagh. Both their ceremony and their wedding reception took place at the hotel.
Kirsty and her bridesmaids got ready from her mum and dad’s home in Belfast. These guys are a close-knit family, Kirsty lives just up the road from her mum & dad and her granny lives next door. The girls were great craic, although one of the bridesmaids seemed to be struggling with the early start and ended up going for a quick nap on the sofa later in the morning. Kirsty was in great form all morning but as it was nearing the time to leave, she was starting to feel a bit nervous.

Before we left, we asked Kirsty about Michael and she told us that he is usually a quiet sort of guy and that he might be a bit nervous himself. We aren’t sure if it’s just hard for Michael to get a word in edgeways at home, living in a house full of women or if he was just excited about the wedding but straight away upon meeting Michael, we realised he wasn’t a quiet guy at all. He had us in stitches for most of the day.
We probably mention this every time we blog a wedding we have photographed at La Mon, but we got married here of ourselves, so it’s always nice to return here for another wedding and as wedding photographers in Belfast we have photographed lots of weddings here. We also love the bright ceremony room at this venue, loads of natural light provided by the huge windows. Kirsty and Michael’s marriage ceremony was a quick one, just like they wanted.

Kirsty and Michael wanted to spend as much time with their family and friends as possible so we made use of the areas around the hotel for their bride and groom portraits rather than heading off to another location. They were both a lot of fun to spend time with. Once we had finished up and after Kirsty had switched out her wedding shoes for her wedding converse, we went back to the hotel and grabbed the bridal party and Kirsty & Michael’s family for some more photos.
Michael was a little nervous about his speech, which to be fair pretty much every groom is but he spoke well and mentioned all the people he needed to. Not to bad considering he winged it.
After dinner we grabbed Kirsty and Michael for another few photos to make the most of the evening light before heading back inside for the dancing. The guys did their first dance, which was a short one as they were both a little nervous about being the centre of attention. Kirsty then did a dance with her dad, before the proper party got started.
