Slieve Donard Wedding | Rhiannon + Oliver

Rhiannon and Oliver celebrated their love and commitment to each other by getting married on the 28th of September at the beautiful Slieve Donard Hotel in Newcastle. Both their wedding ceremony and reception were held at the picturesque County Down venue, which provided a stunning backdrop for their special day.

We had been eagerly waiting and looking forward to getting the opportunity to shoot this wonderful wedding ever since Rhiannon and Oliver first reached out to us. We knew there would be many of our own family members attending this celebration, and the day would be full of warmth, laughter, and of course lots of craic.

There was a lot of international flavour at this wedding with lots of Rhiannon’s family and friends making the long journey from her home country of Australia to be there on the day. Rhiannon and her lovely bridesmaids had stayed at the Slieve Donard the night before the wedding, creating a perfect backdrop for the festivities. So we met up with them at the hotel on the bright morning of the big day for the getting ready process. As you would reasonably expect, all of these wonderful ladies were absolutely buzzing with excitement and joy for the day ahead.

Oliver and his groomsmen, equally as excited and filled with anticipation, arrived later on in the morning and in plenty of time before the ceremony kick off time. We haven’t shot a wedding at the Slieve Donard since the new owners have been in place and it was interesting to see the changes they have made to the venue.

The guys had initially hoped for an outdoor wedding ceremony but with the weather forecast giving for some difficult weather the venue decided to move the ceremony indoors so the ceremony took place in the Chandelier Room. Humanist wedding celebrant Trevor Molloy who we know from other weddings, was on hand to do the ceremony for the guys.

After the ceremony the guys walked out the door to fistfuls of confetti thrown by their guests before we made off with the bride and groom to Foleys Bridge inside Tollymore Forest Park for their portraits. The guys arrived in style driven in a beautiful 1913 Rolls Royce. Once back at the venue we grabbed the rest of the bridal party for some photos and Rhiannon and Oliver were able to have plenty of time to socialise with all of their guests before the call for dinner. The guys changed into traditional dress for the entrance into the room to celebrate Rhiannon’s heritage.

After dinner there was plenty of time to chill out and Rhiannon even had time for a competitive game of pool with some of her friends before the dancing. The guys had a pretty quick first dance before everyone else hit up the dancefloor to party the rest of the night away.
