Leighinmohr Hotel Wedding | Zara + Jamie
Zara & Jamie were married on the 7th of April at the Leighinmohr House Hotel in Ballymena with both the wedding ceremony and reception taking place at the venue.
Like for so many couples over the last couple of years Zara & Jamie had previously unfortunately had to postpone their wedding, so there was much relief all round that they were able to finally have their big day.
We met up with Zara and her bridesmaids on the morning of the wedding at her Mum & Dad’s home in Belfast. Zara didn’t seem to have any wedding morning nerves and her only concern was that all her guests would stick to her and Jamie’s wishes to put their devices away for the ceremony, so that they could be present with them rather than watching the ceremony from behind their phone and tablet screen’s. That is exactly what every Northern Ireland wedding photographer likes to hear! While it is our job as professionals to deal with any situation, it’s always a nice bonus for us when couples decide to have an unplugged wedding.

We then headed off to the Leighinmohr Hotel to meet up with Jamie and his groomsmen plus one groomswomen. There is always one as they say, and this time it was Jamie’s groomswomen who arrived a bit later than everyone else. After grabbing a few quick photos, we got ready for the ceremony. The ceremony went well as expected and it was very easy to see how excited Zara and Jamie were to finally get married and how proud both sets of their parents were as well.
When we first spoke with Zara & Jamie about their wedding plans they had asked about where was best to go for photographs after the ceremony. The leighinmohr itself has some nice gardens that work well for group photographs with the bridal party and family but with it being a small space it is usually better to go elsewhere for couples portraits, if time is available and the weather is on your side. We had suggested Antrim Castle gardens which is popular for couples getting married in this area, but Zara & Jamie were able to find another location that they both loved.
The Garden Across the Road Wedding Photography
We had heard of the Garden Across the road, but hadn’t visited it before ourselves so when Zara & Jamie told us that this is where they had booked for their bride and groom portraits, we were excited to see it. When we arrived at the gardens, straight away we thought this is perfect. It has a small lake, some woodland and lots of wild flowers, and is amazing for wedding photography.
After getting back to the venue we hit up the gardens at the hotel with the bridal party and Zara & Jamie’s family. Thankfully the rain which had been threatening to turn up all day according to the forecast stayed away and we were able to get everything wrapped up in plenty of time before the speeches and dinner.
After dinner we were able to talk the guys at the Leighinmohr into letting us re-open their gardens so that we could make use of what was left of the late evening sunshine to grab a few more photos with Zara & Jamie before they made their way back up into the venue to step out for their first dance. After the first dance Zara grabbed her dad and went back on to the dance floor for a traditional father/daughter dance closely followed by Jamie and his mum.
