Leighinmohr Hotel Weddings
The Leighinmohr Hotel is a very popular wedding venue and we have photographed many weddings here. Leighinmohr House is a boutique style hotel and wedding venue in Ballymena. They operate a strict one wedding per day policy, so you will have the place mostly to yourself on your wedding day excluding any hotel residents.
The newly refurbished ballroom can cater for weddings of up to 250 guests. They also have a smaller function suite for smaller weddings. The Leighinmohr Hotel is also a licensed venue for marriage and civil partnership ceremonies. The Leighinmohr Hotel has been hosting wedding receptions for over sixty years. They also have some exciting plans ahead for 2025 with the addition of a new dedicated wedding area called The Garden Room.
What are the advantages of the Leighinmohr Hotel for a wedding?
Being a hotel wedding venue, onsite accommodation is available.
The room used for ceremonies and receptions has been recently renovated and looks great now.
The hotel has a small garden area which is suitable for group photos with family and friends.
Prices for a wedding here are below average for a Ballymena wedding venue. At the time of writing prices range from £50.00 to £60.00 per person depending on the time of year, before any extras.
With only one wedding a day you don’t have to worry about multiple weddings taking on your big day.
Any time we have been here photographing a wedding the staff are experienced hosting weddings and friendly.
The dancefloor is huge!
They have a reputation for providing good quality wedding food.
What are the disadvantages of the Leighinmohr Hotel for a wedding?
Being based in Ballymena, the location may not suit every couple.
Some couples might prefer a more personalised wedding day and the Leighinmohr Hotel's set wedding packages may not suit what they are looking for. If you prefer a unique and customised wedding experience, you may find this venue's options too restrictive. This to be fair would be the same with most hotel style wedding venues in Northern Ireland.
Photo opportunities at the Leighinmohr are a bit limited if you are planning on not going elsewhere.
Wedding Photography at the Leighinmohr Hotel
This hotel has a small garden that can be used for wedding photography. We find this space best used for group shots with our couples, family and friends but we have also used it for portraits of the bride and groom as well, when couples preferred to not have the hassle of going to another location. With the garden being quite a small area there isnlt an awful lot of interesting elements to work with in terms of photography on the day. There is also a huge rusty pipe that runs along one side of the garden which means you can’t shoot in that direction.
While we will always work around what our couples prefer our advice would be that if you choose the Leighinmohr Hotel as your wedding venue, to make the most of your time with your wedding photographer, your best option is to choose another location for your bride and groom portraits.

Antrim Castle Gardens: Photo location for Leighinmohr Hotel weddings
There are a lot of wedding venues in the Antrim and Ballymena area and this a popular choice of location for couples getting married here. With its enchanting landscapes, historic charm, and meticulously manicured gardens, this location great for couples looking for an exciting range of different backdrop for their wedding photography.
The beautiful parterre garden with its symmetrical design to the interesting reflection ponds surrounded by lush greenery, every corner of this location presents an opportunity for breath-taking photographs. The sea of vibrant flowers, ancient trees, and charming architectural elements provides lots of options for capturing amazing photos. You need to get permission to have your wedding photographs taken here from the staff at Antrim Castle and this needs to be pre-arranged.
The garden across the road - Photo location for Leighinmohr Hotel weddings
This isn’t literally a garden across the road from the hotel. The garden across the road is a private garden in the Shankbridge Road area of Ballymena which can be hired as a photo location for wedding photography. The garden is owned by local wedding celebrant Dorothy Lines.
The garden is very natural and It offers a small lake, some woodland and lots of wild flowers, and is an amazing choice for a wedding photography location. With this being a very popular choice it is advised to book well in advance by contacting Dorothy direct.
