Leighinmohr Hotel Wedding | Ashley + Chris

On the 28th of October Ashley & Chris got married at the Leighinmohr House Hotel in Ballymena with both the wedding ceremony and reception taking place at the venue.

On the morning of the wedding, we met up with Ashley and her bridesmaids at her mum & dad’s home in Ballymena. Everyone was in great form, no wedding nerves here at all and Ashley was as chilled out a bride as we have photographed. There were laughs a plenty as everyone got ready and everything went according to plan. Ashley didn’t want her dad to see her wedding dress before she left for the ceremony, so we were under strict instructions to make sure it never left the bedroom. This was so that Ashley could share a little emotional moment with her dad when he seen her in her dress for the first time.

Ashley had told us that she expected Chris to be a bit nervous and she knows Chris very well these guys have been together since they were 16.  So, we were surprised when we arrived at the Leghinmohr Hotel to find Chris excited but not nervous at all. His groomsmen and his sister who was his best man (maybe that should be best woman) helped keep him calm and nerve free all morning on the lead up to the ceremony.

Usually when we photograph a wedding at the Leighinmohr House Hotel we would head off after the ceremony to Antrim Castle Gardens for bride & groom portraits. This had been the original plan for Ashley & Chris as well but they decided before the wedding that they wanted to stay at the Leighinmohr instead. Antrim Castle Gardens is an amazing location for photography but the Leighinmohr does have a nice area to use and it meant it saved the guys all the hassle of travelling down into Antrim.

As it turned out on this wedding day that was a great choice. After shooting some stuff with Ashley & Chris it was looking like the weather might not be so good and as it had forecast for rain in the afternoon, we cut their session short so that we could grab the bridal party and some of their family for a few quick photographs. We had just about finished those when it started to rain. The rain never went away the rest of the day.

Back inside the venue while we cursed the heavy rain the guys spent some quality time with their family and friends. The rest of the day seemed to go very fast, it seemed like in no time at all after the speeches and dinner that the guys were stepping out for their first dance. Ashley also hit up the dance floor for a traditional father/daughter dance and Chris followed afterwards for a dance with his Mum.
