Leighinmohr Hotel Wedding | Susan + David

With a touching wedding ceremony held at the picturesque St. John the Baptist Church in Bushmills and a lively reception at the Leighinmohr House Hotel in Ballymena, Susan and David’s wedding day was the perfect blend of traditional values. timeless romance and modern flair.

On the morning of the wedding we met up with Susan and the rest of the ladies at her Mum and Dad’s home in Portballintrae. We often travel through here on our way to photograph elopements on the Causeway Coast but this is the first time we have stopped and had a look around, and what a beautiful little seaside village it is. There was no signs of any pre-wedding nerves from Susan and while the morning went past in a blink of an eye, there was plenty of laughs throughout.

We met up with David and the guys at the church before the ceremony and he was just as unfazed as Susan had been, although he had got a bit emotional at the wedding rehearsal the night before. The religious aspect of their wedding was especially important for David and Susan and it was made even more special by being able to have their wedding ceremony in the same church that Susan’s Mum and Dad had got married in. As well as being married by the minister of this little village church, the guys own minister came along and said a few words. Unfortunately the officiant on the day insisted on severe restrictions on photography and videography during the ceremony which is always disappointing, but that is just sometimes how it goes.

After the ceremony the guys walked out of the church to handfuls of confetti thrown by their guests. After a quick stop to grab a photograph at a special place for Susan and David, we were all on our way to the Leighinmohr Hotel. The traffic on the way was bedlam, so we arrived at the hotel and immediately got cracking with Susan and David’s bride and groom portraits.

While we only had the guys for a short time before needing to shoot some stuff with their family and friends, we had great craic with them both. Susan and David are both just genuinely lovely people, and we were even able to get finished up in time for Susan and David to share some time with their guests before the call for the speeches.

There was a lot of speeches at this wedding as everyone was keen to speak about them both, Susan did a speech of her own as well.

After dinner, we quietly stole away with Susan and David for a few precious minutes to capture some more beautiful photos, making the most of the last available light of the day as the sun began to set. This delightful moment was followed up with sparkler photos taken on the steps just outside the hotel. The shimmering lights added a magical touch to the evening, creating a stunning backdrop for the celebration.

Back inside the beautiful venue, it was time for the dancing to begin, and Susan and David certainly didn’t disappoint. With infectious energy, they strutted around the dance floor like seasoned professionals before being joined by their family and friends to party the rest of the night away.
