Sophie + Ryan's Spring Wedding at The Leighinmohr Hotel
Sophie and Ryan got married and had their wedding reception on the 28th of April at the Leighinmohr House Hotel in Ballymena.
We first met these guys when we photographed Sophie’s, sister’s wedding a few years ago. So, it was great to see them again, only this time for their own wedding.
We knew we were going to be in for a fun day with this crowd and that proved to be the case right from getting ready in the morning. We met up with the girls for getting ready at Sophie and Ryan’s home just outside of our hometown of Lisburn, in Aghalee. The girls were in great form and the craic was flying the whole way through getting ready. These girls were determined to party hard all day right from early morning. Copious amount of Prosecco was consumed and one of the bridesmaids even cracked open a bottle of Buckfast.

After leaving the girls we made our way to Ballymena to meet up with the guys at the Leighinmohr Hotel. Ryan and the guys had already hit up the hotel bar before we arrived so were in just as high spirits as the girls had been earlier in the morning.
Sophie and Ryan had chosen to have a Humanist wedding ceremony which was performed by Michael McAlinden. Once Michael had finished taking all his selfies, the ceremony started and he hilariously explained how Sophie and Ryan first met and their story leading up to their wedding day. Sophie and Ryan wanted a really relaxed and fun ceremony and Michael absolutely delivered. While there were some tears, like every good wedding ceremony should have, everyone there was in fits of laughter throughout.

After the ceremony we headed of to the area that is mainly used for photographs at the Leighinmohr House Hotel with Sophie and Ryan. As we walked along the river path with the guys and witnessed how they interacted with each other, it easy to see how good a match these two are for each other. We kept the session light and fun which is what the guys wanted and we had such a laugh with them both.
Photos with the guys done, we headed back to the main hotel building again, to shoot some stuff with Sophie and Ryan’s family and friends. Some of the guests had mobility problems so using an area at the side of the hotel was the best option for them. It did look like at one point that we were going to get a bit of rain but it passed within minutes and we had plenty of time to get everything that Sophie and Ryan wanted. As we have already mentioned these guys were determined to party hard all day so it was important to get all of the photo stuff needed, done and out of the way, so that the guys got lots of time with their guests before dinner.
These guys opted for no speeches. Sophie told us she doesn’t enjoy them, but they made one hell of an entrance in the room to greet their guests. During dinner the guys also arranged for a singing waitress to entertain their guests.
Before the D.J had even set up his equipment the girls were on the dancefloor as the Saxophone played and the Leighinmohr went from wedding party into proper party with the atmosphere they created. Once the D.J got set up the guys hit up the dance floor for their first dance.
