Clandeboye Lodge Wedding: Emma & Paul's Unforgettable Celebration of Love

Emma & Paul got married on the 30th of December with both their wedding ceremony and wedding reception taking place at the Clandeboye Lodge Hotel in Bangor.

Their wedding was our last wedding of 2019, our first wedding of 2019 was the Clandeboye Lodge as well so it was a nice bit of symmetry to end the year there as well.

Emma & Paul were very relaxed about the whole wedding thing and as Emma told us herself having already been together for some time, having three kids together and having their own home they have already done everything and the wedding day was just the icing on the cake. So, there was no wedding nerves here just lots of excitement and enthusiasm for celebrating their life together and commitment to each other with their family and friends.

Emma and her bridesmaids stayed at the Clandeboye Lodge the night before the wedding so we met up with her there to photograph everyone getting ready. The room the guys had for getting ready was a little small so it was a tight squeeze with Emma, her four bridesmaids, her Mum, the hair stylist, the make up artist, Emma and Paul’s beautiful little daughter Clara and of course us. Everyone was in great spirits though and while we spent most of the morning bumping into each other it was all good fun.

Later on, in the morning Paul and his and Emma’s sons Oliver and Mason arrived along with the groomsmen, so we where able to nip down and say a quick hello to all the boys and grab a few quick photos before the ceremony.

The ceremony itself was great with a few funny moments as well like when the officiant asked Emma to lower her flowers before saying her vows as he couldn’t see her face and when he insisted, they kiss twice.

After the ceremony we made our way over to Crawfordsburn Country Park with Emma and Paul for bride and groom portraits. When we spoke with Emma before the wedding about where they would like to go for this part of the day, they would have been happy to just have a few quick photographs around the hotel. The Clandeboye Lodge doesn’t really have any grounds around the hotel though and while we could have made this work, we suggested Crawfordsburn as another option as with having both a beach and a forest area it can make for a nice mix of locations to use and with it being only across the road from the hotel it is usually a good choice for anyone getting married at the Clandeboye Lodge.

It was a bitterly cold and windy day and we were quite surprised to still find that even so late on in December that so many people where still visiting the beach. Emma and Paul had quite a late ceremony time for this time of the year so we were under a bit of time pressure, but as you can see from the photographs all went well. We even had just enough time to try out a little technique where we hold some fairy lights just in front of the lens. It’s easy to spot which photos we used those for.

Once back at the hotel we shot some stuff with the bridal party who where all really good fun and of course some family photos for Emma and Paul. Everything was finished up in good time so Emma and Paul where then able to spend a little time with their family and friends before it was time to be called in for the speeches.

As well as the normal father of the bride, father of the groom, groom and best man speeches, Emma’s matron of honour also said a few touching words before Emma herself added a few more including gifting her Mum and Dad a weekend trip to celebrate their own wedding anniversary.
