2019 Best Of | Wedding Photographer Northern Ireland
At the start of the year we were really looking forward to kicking off our 2019 wedding season and it didn’t disappoint. We started the year with a wedding at the Clandeboye Lodge in Bangor and our last wedding of the year took place there as well.
A few months before the end of last year, we made the decision to start moving away from our old school DSLR camera system. Rather than jump in feet first with a new camera system, we decided it was best to move across slowly. So, over the last year and a bit we have gradually changed our equipment over to the newer mirrorless system. This was a significant investment, but mirrorless camera systems have clear advantages for wedding photographers, such as much more reliable auto focus, the option to use the cameras in silent mode and the equipment tends to be a bit a little bit lighter for us to carry as well. This change in equipment has helped us provide more images to our clients this year than we have ever been able to do before.
While its always nice to return to a wedding venue we have worked at before, one of the most exciting things for us when photographing a wedding is getting to visit a venue that is new to us and we have done that plenty of times in 2019. As an example, in 2019 we photographed a wedding at the Carriage Rooms at Montalto Estate, which is a venue we have been wanting to work at for a while after hearing rave reviews about it from other Northern Ireland wedding photographers.
In 2019, we also photographed several weddings at the La Mon Hotel & Country Club which we always love because this is where we got married ourselves. At one of those we even got the chance to have a catch up with Rory one of the managers at the hotel, who was the guy that looked after us on our own wedding day.
During 2019 we also did a live interview on Radio Ulster discussing the reasons why some couples prefer to have an unplugged wedding ceremony. We were also contacted by UTV who wanted us to appear in the television programme “With this ring”. They would have interviewed us both about our own wedding day and our marriage. They would also have wanted to film us working at one of our weddings. While it might have been a cool thing to do, we decided in the end not to proceed as we were concerned that it might disrupt our couples wedding day. We do appreciate them contacting us and considering us for the t.v show though.
We like to keep in touch with our clients long after we have photographed their wedding and many of them have become good friends. One thing we have noticed this year is that 2019 seems to have been what we are calling, “the Pure Photo N.I baby boom year”. Lots of our clients from the last few years have fallen pregnant or had kids over the last year and we are so excited and pleased for all of them.
Over the last year we have been nominated for some awards for our wedding photography which is always a nice feeling and we have been lucky enough to win a few of them. Thanks very much to the people who nominated us. We were also featured by several online photography and wedding blogs.
2019 has been another successful year for us and we have a lot of people to thank for that. We don’t advertise in glossy wedding magazines or attend wedding fayres, so we rely a lot on recommendations from our previous clients to help put our name in front of couples trying to find wedding photographers. Thanks very much to all our previous clients who continue to recommend us to their family and friends. Please continue to support us!
Social media apps like Facebook and in particular Instagram are important for every wedding related business in terms of potential clients being able to find us. Thanks to everyone that has liked and left comments on our Instagram posts or shared our Facebook posts etc. That support is also much appreciated. When you interact with us on our social media profiles Facebook and Instagram allow our posts to be seen by many more people.
Thanks also to all of the amazing wedding vendors we have met at weddings in 2019, it was really good fun working with you all and we are looking forward to seeing you all again in 2020.
2020 we already know is going to be awesome, we can’t wait to spend the day with all our 2020 couples and their family and friends.
At the end of every year we like to share some of our favourite wedding photographs from the year past. It’s always an impossible task to choose, so we narrow the choices down to a couple of hundred and then pick the one’s to share at random.
