Capturing Love at Bangor Castle: Gemma and Kris' Unforgettable Wedding Day
It was a day filled with love and laughter as Gemma and Kris tied the knot at Bangor Castle on the 1st of September. Being a wedding photographer in Northern Ireland, we had the privilege of capturing the special day for this lovely couple.
We have photographed quite a few weddings at Bangor Castle and in our humble opinion it’s probably the best place for a registry office wedding in Northern Ireland. The ceremony room has an epic stained-glass window and the room is big enough to accommodate a good amount of people as well as having decent light. The best thing about getting married here though is that the walled gardens at Bangor Castle are always spectacular. To get to the walled gardens there is a short walk through the equally pretty forest. Perfect for wedding photography! If you are getting married at any of the Bangor wedding venues, the walled gardens at Bangor Castle is a great choice for a location for your portraits. It all easily accessible as well, so you don’t have the big walk around Crawfordsburn Country Park that a lot of couples choose.

Arriving at the venue, we couldn't help but notice the intimate and cosy atmosphere that was present. With only five guests in attendance, it was clear that this ceremony was going to be something truly heartfelt and personal. It felt like a close-knit celebration amongst dear friends and family. There are lots of reasons why couples choose a smaller more intimate wedding. For Gemma & Kris they just wanted their special moment to be spent with their very nearest and dearest and having a smaller wedding enabled to have a trip of a lifetime for their honeymoon.
Unfortunately, the weather decided to play its own role in the day's proceedings. The rain poured down relentlessly, threatening to dampen the spirits of the bride and groom. But as wedding photographers, it's our job to find the silver lining in any situation. Embracing the rain, knowing that it could add a unique and romantic element to the photographs.
The ceremony took place indoors, but as the newlyweds stepped out of the castle, we were greeted by droplets falling from the sky. It was challenging to navigate the wet surroundings and ensure everyone stayed dry, but we made the best of it. The raindrops glistened on the flowers and added a softness to the atmosphere. Gemma and Kris embraced the weather, holding each other close while we captured their love in every frame.

After the ceremony, we ventured into the walled garden for some portraits. The lush greenery and vibrant blooms provided a stunning backdrop. The rain had cast a magical spell over the garden, setting the stage for some truly breathtaking shots. Gemma's bouquet popped against the muted tones of the surroundings, and Kris couldn't take his eyes off his beautiful bride. Their love radiated through every photo, despite the weather's attempts to intervene.
Though the weather presented its challenges, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. The rain added a layer of authenticity and intimacy to the photographs, capturing the love and resilience of Gemma and Kris on their special day. As wedding photographers in Northern Ireland, we are grateful for opportunities like these, where we can witness and document the start of a new chapter in a couple's life.
Gemma and Kris's wedding was a reminder of how love can triumph over any obstacle, including a rainy day. The photographs will serve as a timeless reminder of their enduring bond, and we feel privileged to have been a part of their journey. if you would like more info on weddings here. View this page.
