We have been photographing weddings for over 10 years and photographed hundreds of weddings in Northern Ireland. A lot of wedding photography businesses that offer two photographers, don’t even know each other until they meet up on your wedding day, as the main photographer just hires in whoever is available on the day. That gives us a unique advantage.
Having photographed hundreds of weddings we have been there and done that and there is nothing that can happen at a wedding that we have not seen before.
We have photographed very small weddings and very large weddings at every type of venue you can imagine. Some wedding photographers have only worked at some types of venues and don’t have this level of experience.
We always commit to ensuring that our brides and grooms have the best day ever! We have never not turned up to a wedding we have been booked for. We know lots of photographers who for one reason or another have left their couples high and dry. Off course this can sometimes be for an unavoidable genuine reason but sometimes it isn’t.
In the 10 years we have been photographing weddings we have been late to arrive once. On the morning of that wedding the weather was dreadful and we had very heavy snow, we left 3 hours earlier than we should have but still arrived 20 minutes late, we were still the first wedding vendor to arrive with the bride on the morning of the wedding. There are some photographers that also provide video and we run into them all the time at weddings we are working at. We see some arrive late, sometimes very late on a regular basis, and they never seem very concerned. We can only assume that they do the same thing when they are booked for photography. Speaking to other vendors including staff at venues, some local wedding photographers always seem to arrive later than expected.
When we rock up to a wedding we bring along enough equipment for 4 or 5 wedding photographers never mind just 2. Some local wedding photographers get by on the bare essentials and instead of investing in ensuring they have the best possible equipment to create images for their couples, just treat their equipment as a business expense that they want to keep to the absolute minimum.
Over and above photography equipment and software, we spend thousands every year on our C.R.M and online image delivery software because we know that this helps provide the best possible experience for clients. We are multi-award winning wedding photographers but we would never suggest that couples should choose us because of that. Award’s are nice to get but it is not previous clients that we have done a great job for that give out awards. A lot of awards for wedding photography don’t really mean an awful lot. Some awards are given by other photographers within photography associations and can be a case of whose turn is it this year, rather than having any real worth. They can also sometimes be a popularity contest rather than awarding the actual work itself. Awards are often from a small sample size. For example, awards given out from a group on Facebook, but you have to be a paying member of that particular Facebook group to enter and many wedding photographers are not part of that group.
