Millbrook Lodge Hotel Wedding | Jenna + David

On the 26th of June Jenna & David got married and had their wedding reception at the Millbrook Lodge Hotel in Ballynahinch.

We have known Jenna & David for a long time, we share some relatives and friends so we were super excited when they contacted us to say that they wanted us to photograph their wedding. Jenna & David are one of the few lucky couples that didn’t have to change their wedding date, their venue or any of their vendors because of the pandemic, although of course they have had the same concerns about if there wedding could go ahead as planned just like everyone else has had. We were really excited to spend the day with them and be a wedding photographer in Ballynahinch.

On the morning of the wedding, we met up with Jenna and her besties at the hotel, while they all got ready. The morning went as we expected, Jenna is so laid back she is almost falling over so it was never going to be the case that there would be any wedding morning nerves here.

When they first spoke to us about their wedding, they had a very clear idea of how they wanted the day to go. They both don’t like a lot of fuss and they both hate to be the centre of attention, not an easy task when you are the bride and groom at a wedding. They explained that they were going to keep the ceremony short as they were dreading standing up in from of all their family and friends while they got married. On the day, that is exactly what happened. We knew the ceremony would be short but Jenna & David’s wedding ceremony is probably the quickest we have ever seen.

Jenna & David were also both nervous about their bride & groom portraits after the ceremony and we were under strict instructions to take a couple of photos and get it over and done with as soon as possible. That’s how it was supposed to go anyway, but we knew that wouldn’t actually happen once we got them away from all the prying eyes at the wedding. We are well used too working with people who aren’t comfortable being photographed and as we have known them for so long, we knew that we could soon put them at ease. While we did finish up a little quicker than normal, we pulled out all the tricks to get them comfortable and it wasn’t too long at all before they got right into it. As we made our way back to the venue, they both said how much fun they had.

Back at the venue we grabbed a few photos with the bridal party and Jenna & David’s families. It was a little different for us as we share some relatives with Jenna and some of the guests were actually at our own wedding. It was nice to get a catch up with them all as we haven’t seen any of them since before the start of the pandemic.

The rest of the day was as chilled out and relaxed as they both wanted. While we know they would have liked for everyone to be able to hit up the dance floor after the first dance unfortunately that isn’t possible at the moment. That didn’t matter though, as we know that they all had a great time being able to catch up with all of their friends and their loved ones that they haven’t seen in a long time.
