Weddings at Drenagh Estate
Photographers who know the estate and its light
Drenagh is one of the most photogenic wedding venues in Northern Ireland. A Georgian house, a walled garden with its own moon gate, the Moon Garden for ceremonies and woodland and gardens that run for acres. With only one wedding a day, the whole estate is yours, and that gives us room to work.
We have photographed weddings here, so we know where the light falls in the walled garden in the afternoon, which rooms in the house work best for the getting ready, and how to use the grand staircase and the gardens without rushing you. We photograph the day as it happens, with relaxed portraits in between, and we plan the timings around the light so you get the best of the estate.
Still deciding on the venue itself? Our Drenagh Estate wedding venue guide covers the good, the not so good and our favourite photo spots.

Photography at Drenagh Estate
Every corner of Drenagh, captured
Drenagh gives us a Georgian house, walled gardens and a thousand acres of grounds, all with no other wedding on site. Here are the places we use on your wedding day and why each one matters.
The Moon Garden
The Moon Garden is the outdoor ceremony space at Drenagh, seating up to 140 guests, and it can be dressed with fairy lights, candles, flowers and drapes. We photograph your ceremony quietly from the sides and behind, so we capture the faces and the reactions without getting in the way. We always agree a wet weather plan with you beforehand.
The Georgian House
The house is a beautiful place to start the day and to photograph indoors. The Main Hall and its grand staircase give us a classic, elegant setting for the getting ready, the ceremony for up to 100 guests and portraits. The Morning Room and the rooms with open fires add warmth and texture, and they are a lovely backup if the weather turns.
The Walled Garden and Marquee
The marquee sits in the old walled garden, with glass fronts and bi fold doors that open onto the garden. It holds up to 270 guests and fills with natural light during the day. We use the surrounding walls and planting for relaxed portraits and for the evening light photos once the party is underway.
The Gardens and Grounds
With around 1,000 acres, there is room to find a quiet corner. We love the Walled Garden, the Italian Garden, the Glen, the Heather House and the River Walk, as well as the circular moon gate that so many couples ask us about. Which spots we use depends on your timings and the light, and we plan it with you.
Real weddings at Drenagh
See our work at Drenagh Estate
Every wedding at Drenagh is different. Some couples marry in the Moon Garden, others in the Georgian house, and the Northern Irish weather has a say in all of them. These are three days we photographed here, so you can see how we work.
Each one is a full day, from the getting ready and the ceremony to the portraits around the estate and the party in the evening, all edited in the same natural, true to life style. Click any photo to see the whole day.
Outdoors in the Moon Garden or indoors in the Georgian house. We plan your photography around the space you choose and the way you want the day to feel.
The house and the glass fronted marquee mean the day carries on whatever the weather. We agree a wet weather plan with you beforehand, and some of our favourite images come from grey days.
Drenagh hosts one wedding a day, so we can use the gardens, the house and the grounds without working around anyone else.
What our couples say
Kind words from Drenagh couples
What couples who got married at Drenagh Estate say about having Tommy and Laurene photograph their day.
These guys..... From the first conversation I had with Tommy I was so impressed, he took so much time on asking what we wanted and giving advice on other wedding vendors, it was clear that he and Laurene were not going to disappoint.
On the day of our wedding they arrived and worked their magic, with plenty of laughs along the way, they were great with our children.
When we got the finished product through we were so pleased, so many perfectly staged photos that we weren't able to see on the day. We were so surprised at the amount of photos Tommy and Laurene captured for us and really grateful for their hard work.
Would highly recommend these guys, a pleasure to work with and a great finished product!
Where to start, firstly we are delighted with our wedding photos they are amazing and really captured our day. I'm not one who enjoys getting my photo taken in fact I was even considering not having a photographer at the wedding however I'm so happy I did and even more delighted that we chose Pure Photo NI.
Tommy & Laurene made us feel so relaxed and comfortable when getting the photos done. It was as if we had know them a life time. You made getting photos taken an enjoyable experience which was something I never could have imagined.
Frequently asked questions
Your Drenagh questions answered
The things couples ask us most about photography at Drenagh Estate. If yours is not here, send us a message or have a look at our wedding FAQ.
Do you know the best spots for photos at Drenagh Estate?
Yes. We know the Moon Garden, the Georgian house with its grand staircase, the walled garden and the wider grounds, including the Italian Garden, the Glen and the River Walk. We plan which spots to use around your timings and the light, so you do not have to think about it on the day. Our Drenagh Estate venue guide shows some of our favourites.
Can we have an outdoor ceremony at Drenagh Estate?
Yes. The Moon Garden is the outdoor ceremony space and seats up to 140 guests. You can also marry indoors in the Georgian house, in the Main Hall or the Morning Room, for up to 100 guests. We photograph either one, and we will talk through the layout and the light with you beforehand.
What happens if it rains on our wedding day at Drenagh?
The Georgian house gives you a backup for the ceremony, and the marquee is fully enclosed, with glass fronts and heating. We agree a wet weather plan with you beforehand so nothing is a surprise on the day. Some of our favourite images come from grey days, with the house, the staircase and umbrellas in the gardens.
Can we get ready at Drenagh on the morning of our wedding?
Yes. Estate hire includes bedrooms on site, with a bridal suite, so you can get ready in the house. We usually arrive around 9.30am to capture the bridal preparations, then spend time with the groom and groomsmen later in the morning.
How far in advance should we book?
As early as you can. We only take on a limited number of weddings each year, and Drenagh hosts just one wedding a day, so popular dates go quickly. If you have your date, send us a message and we will check it straight away.
Will there be two photographers at our Drenagh wedding?
Yes. Tommy and Laurene photograph every wedding together as a husband and wife team. One of us can be with the bride and the other with the groom in the morning, and during the day we capture the moments you would otherwise miss.
Is there more than one wedding at Drenagh on the same day?
No. Drenagh hosts one wedding per day, so the whole estate is yours. It makes photography easier, because we can use any part of the gardens and the house without working around another wedding.
Have you photographed weddings at Drenagh Estate before?
Yes. You can see some of them above, and our venue guide has more about how a wedding day works here, including a timeline.
