The earliest recorded mention of a castle that is situated at Lissanoure dates back all the way to the year 1300. These days, of course, it is best known for being a spectacular high-end wedding and events venue that offers unforgettable experiences for couples and their guests.

With lots of different location options for a wedding ceremony both indoors and outdoors, Lissanoure has quickly become a firm favourite with both couples who want to get married there and with photographers that appreciate the beautiful scenery and adaptability of the venue.

There are two main buildings used for hosting a wedding reception at this venue. Couples can choose from The Coach House or The Castle Barn depending on what suits their preference for the overall vibe of their wedding day and how many guests they expect to have with them on the day.

The Coach House can be used for both wedding ceremonies and receptions and has the capacity to seat up to 120 for dinner and evening receptions of up to 200. The Castle Barn can work flexibly for small or large numbers for a wedding reception.

What are the advantages of Lissanoure Castle for a wedding?

• Being a dedicated exclusive wedding venue means that only one wedding a day takes place at the Lissanoure Castle, so you and your guests will have the place all to yourselves.

• Both wedding ceremonies and wedding receptions can be held here. As well as different location options being available for an indoor wedding they can also cater for outdoor weddings as well.

• There are always plenty friendly staff around to offer their help on the day.

• There is a room available for the bride if she chooses to get ready from the venue or needs to change her dress before the dancing.

What are the disadvantages of Lissanoure Castle for a wedding?

• Similar to a lot of other country estate style wedding venues accommodation on-site is an issue. However Lissanoure Castle is close to several hotels and B&B’s.

• Similar to other venues of this type, you will need to bring in your own caterers for your wedding.

• The estate as well as being a wedding venue is also a private home. This doesn’t sound like a big deal and in all honesty it isn’t really, but it does mean that some of the areas around the venue are strictly off limits to you and your guests.

The area around the venue offers lots of different areas that work well for wedding photography including some right beside where your ceremony and reception are taking place making it easy to capture moments with you and your guests even if they have mobility issues.

However it is also worthwhile pointing out that some areas are not allowed to be used at all. This is because as we have already mentioned, the venue is also a private home and the owners like to retain their privacy.
