What are the advantages of the Tullyglass Hotel for a wedding?
Being a hotel wedding venue, onsite accommodation is available.
They have a dedicated room for wedding ceremonies so you can have both your ceremony and reception at the venue.
The room used for ceremonies has been recently renovated.
The hotel has its own grounds which are suitable for wedding photography which means you may not need to travel elsewhere for photographs.
Prices for a wedding here are average for a Ballymena wedding venue. At the time of writing prices range from £55.00 to £85.00 per person before any extras.
They can cater for two weddings a day which provides additional availability.
In our experience photographing weddings here the staff are generally experienced hosting weddings and friendly.
What are the disadvantages of the Tullyglass Hotel for a wedding?
While being able to have two weddings a day is great for availability, this does also come along with some disadvantages. Many couples prefer not to share their venue with another couple. You may well on the day see the other wedding party and there guests, which for some couples can be an issue as they feel it dilutes the importance of their own wedding day,
At a recent wedding we photographed here our couple were not allowed access to the area used for photographs as this had been allocated to the other couple who were getting married there that day. At other weddings we have photographed here we have to wait to use the area mainly used for photography or only been granted access to it for a short time so that it could also be used by the other wedding that was taking place there that day.
Some couples prefer a more personalised touch for their wedding day and Tullyglass Hotel's set packaged wedding offerings might not cater to individual tastes and preferences. If you desire a unique and customised wedding experience, you may find the venue's options too restrictive. This to be fair would be the case with most hotel style wedding venues in Northern Ireland.
The location of Tullyglass Hotel may pose logistical challenges for guests, especially those traveling from outside Ballymena. If for example you live in Belfast or the surrounding areas and plan to have your ceremony elsewhere a lot of time will be spent travelling on the day.
Another wedding vendor told us that the Tullyglass prohibits the use of dancefloors being installed and we have never seen one here. While this isn’t an issue at all when the dance floor is full, the dark wooden dancefloor means that the first dance with just the couple or the father and daughter dance can lack a little bit of atmosphere, that a proper dancefloor provides.
Wedding photography at the Tullyglass Hotel
The Tullyglass Hotel has a few areas that can be used. To the left of the hotel there is a private garden with some unique features. This is the main area for wedding photography here. It is a reasonable sized space with enough variety that it can be used for both portraits of the bride and groom as well as photos with their family and guests.
As well as the private garden there are a few other areas that can be used as well including the lane on the way into the venue, the water feature at the front of the hotel and the small area on the the far right side of the hotel which often gets great light especially when the sun starts to drop later in the day.

If you choose the Tullyglass Hotel as your wedding venue and find that you won’t have access to photography locations onsite because of other weddings taking place there on the day there are some other popular locations that can be used as an alternative.
Antrim Castle Gardens: Photo location for Tullyglass Hotel weddings

The garden across the road - Photo location for Tullyglass Hotel weddings
This isn’t literally a garden across the road from the hotel. The garden across the road is a private garden in the Shankbridge Road area of Ballymena which can be hired as a photo location for wedding photography. The garden is owned by local wedding celebrant Dorothy Lines.
The garden is very natural and It offers a small lake, some woodland and lots of wild flowers, and is an amazing choice for a wedding photography location. With this being a very popular choice it is advised to book well in advance by contacting Dorothy direct.
